Hi guys, planning to get Oni denim and wondering what is their flagship jeans?

the original style I guess, for ex. the 501 for levis.

For denim i think oni is really great, getting their secret denim is a good choice. I love left field alot as well
This will be myfirst foray, into Japanese denim, I'm eyeing PBJ, IH, Momotaro, Oni, Samurai. Not sure which to get, they all look good
Most japanese denim brands are gonna he nice quality with a lot of great options available. I think oni is a good first pick tbh

I’ve actually been doing research on Oni and I agree with Digs. For the Secret Denim, most people size down 1-2 sizes.
I settled on Pure Blue Japan, Oni is pretty hard to find 😅
@Paulo fwiw, Redcast, Hinoya, Denimio, Blue Owl, James Dant, Blue in Green, and Son of a Stag all carry Oni
Also I’ll toss in a couple recs for a next pair—Mister Freedom (Sugarcane), Ship John, or The Flat Head

yeak like Warp said, this is really going to depend on what you're looking for in "fit".
I see, past couple months has been mostly slim straight fit. But I've been leaning more into 501s recently. TCB seems like a good one from what I read on their website
even with TCB they have like four different era 501 repo cuts with slighty different fits though - 40s, 50s, 50s slim and 60s?
50's will be my next purchase from the looks of it. I tend to go with the original cuts of each brand. What are your favorite brands @mattw2 ?
I don't really go for striclty repro stuff but I like Orslow 105s and 101s, ONI, Blue Blue Japan and Kapital.

Iron heart 21oz are imo the best fabric out of any denim out there. Problem for me is most their fits are straight or slim - nothing wide. Highly recommend a pair in the future.
Just to add onto others, sugar cane, warehouse, oni, samurai, black sign, fullcount are a few of my favorite. Best of luck with your new denim I hope you enjoy!
Full Count and Warehouse looks to be my style, they kind of look similar in case I get the TCB 50s. I'm probably not versed enough yet to tell the difference
no idea if they ever updated their cuts but they were so strange. tapers towards the knee, then... flares out
can understand that for flared cuts but that was their standard cuts lol
Highly recommend trying something on in person. You mentioned this is your first experience with raw denim, and it might not be what you expect. People in previous threads have given recs of where to shop where you're at.

As a counterpoint I don’t recommend sizing down on secret denim. It’ll only stretch if it’s tight. If it’s not, it’ll just fit. Plus if you wash them every 6-7 wears they tighten right back up.
If you’re buying their non wash models I found about 2” of shrink in the waist after washing.
But i prefer to just grab the one wash version because the measurements are actually what you get
