Why keep PDBs?
what's the point of distributing PDB files via SMM? they shouldn't be useful to the end player and only add unnecessary weight to the game files (the problem is amplified on servers).
Just to give an example, by removing them, on my server I go from 1.5GB to just over 100MB.
am I missing something? are PDB files also useful to the end player as well as the developer in the debugging phase?

unsurprisingly bugs occur when you play
debugging symbols allow modders to be able to diagnose issues that happen on client machines
You're free to remove them of course, but you won't be able to have crash messages that make as much sense
