no mods working in the game
I don't see any mods or very few in the game working right now like the one that makes the tick thingy disappear. So apparently the last update has done something other than crashing and not letting us play like killed some or most of the mods?

Yes the update brought some changes to the headers requiring mods that use C++ to be recompiled. The authors have to recompile their mods for them to work, and if they were one of the unlucky few to be the in the crosshairs of the changes, possible some reworking of the systems.
On the flip side it also provides more functionalities for modders and its a pretty quick fix for most mods, so it's a net win
