Random black screens hangups/crashes - GPU driver related? (NOT SOLVED)
I have been continously struggling with instability with my Bazzite install despite multiple fresh installs, both in KDE and gnome.
A) Sometimes my system just goes black and becomes unresponsive.
B) Sometime it just hangs up during random desktop operation. Whether the screen just freezes or it too goes black.
C) Sometimes right after the BIOS bootup logo, right before or after steam os validation, the screen just stays black perpetually.
In all of these cases nothing helps but a hard shutdown...
Last boot I ran into option C and I can not for the life of me understand why this is occuring. The system is otherwise stable in my windows partition.
...whilst writing this message it even went black and my system did a sudden reboot... :dispair:
I have attached the logs for both of the mentioned boots to this message.

In both logs at multiple points it looks like there are mentions to
drm
and amdgpu
in connection to where problems seem to take placeI have noticed instabilities as well. Most often the screen is frozen after waking from sleep (I can see my desktop but both my mouse and keyboard do nothing). A hard shutdown is the only solution

Some of the error points ChatGPT highlights as of note for black screen issues… also suggestion it’s likely something with the amd drivers
- MES failed to respond to msg=REMOVE_QUEUE.
- [drm:amdgpu_mes_unmap_legacy_queue [amdgpu]] ERROR failed to unmap legacy queue.
- amdgpu 0000:03:00.0: [drm] ERROR [CRTC:93:crtc-0] flip_done timed out.
Is there really no one that might have some insight in this?
Same issue here with 680M. Amdgpu seems to crash
It's happening on every boot now. Not sure how to get in now
i got in but everything is super sluggish
I share your pain mate, also get that those super laggy boots like every other successful boot. Everything is like 24fps and feels like it's an inch away from crashing
There is a fix for performance degradation after sleep in the next stable
