VRR doesn’t work anymore
I’m using the bazzite-deck image on my HTPC and since the latest update [v41] the VRR toggle, even though is enabled, doesn’t change the state of the VRR which remains disabled. I have a VRR capable tv obviously and it worked before the new major

Is this in-game or in the steam menus?
i tested VRR multiple times ingame to make sure
including LFC
Steam menu, in game it works as intended
yea thats intended
It makes no sense, I want to enable the VRR for the UI too. It worked like that before the last update too.
why do you need vrr in the steamui
we disabled it because it can cause monitors to flicker
you want the steam ui to use 2x battery whenever present on the screen and also cause the issues antheas mention?
just so you can have VRR on in the steam ui?
he has an HTPC
VRR would just do the flashing issue
we are not sure if we want to do the frame halving on HTPCs
that might get reverted
The problem is that now the screen will turn dark whenever I perform one action after another quickly, or when I switch from game to UI
can you update to the latest ver
a fix got in for the timing issue
Yup
if you have issues with VRR being disabled on the latest ver we will look into the issues it causes
it shouldnt cause any
Is it on stable?
yea
should
The black screen after a fast action seems to still be here
oh right
how many hz is your monitor
what ver are you on
120hz, latest stable as of now
build id
from steam settings
can you take a video
F41.20241030 Stable
ok, video?
Okay so, after testing it a bit more it seems that the problem always happen when a game is running and you go back to the Steam UI
You can see my film maker skills at its peak here btw
And completely randomly the other times
what is your frame limit for the game
V-Sync
what is your frame limit
in the slider
120
and if you disable vrr does it fix itself?
ima be honest this doesnt look vrr related this looks kernel related
especially after sleep
I never put it to sleep
Always restarted, sleep never worked with me
(On any of the clean installs I did)
yeah im starting to understand
journalctl -b | fpaste
After the issues presented itself? Because I shut down the pc
turn it on
then
journalctl -b -1 | fpaste
nothing obvious in the logs
I guess it’s the TV itself the problem. Not that it is broken, but since the UI has a different refresh rate than the game it makes sense that it will behave like that… I think?
Anyway it’s such a big problem that it’s making the distro unusable
i get that
i also saw a report though
GitLab
AMD GPU screen blanking for seconds with a warning (#3725) · Issues...
Hello, I run Fedora 40 on a ThinkPad T14 Gen3 - comes with AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 6850U with Radeon Graphics. I have my monitor connected...
turns out its the kernel so go and drop a comment in there
and give me another log because this one expired
although i think you have a different issue

this one is today
Try disabling hdr
Although it's probably this
https://paste.centos.org/view/234ab99a here the dmesg log
Doesn’t seem to be that tho
Same problem
Okay, it actually completely broke something
It didn’t crash the gpu because it wouldn’t render anything, but it fucked up the colours and there was a lot of static and the usual problem
Re-enabling the HDR restored the situation to normal with the usual bug

I have had to set my 6900xt memory clock to the max all the time to fix that gitlab issue. Have had to do this since upgrading to my Samsung G95C. A lot of various AMD DRM issues about it. Been an issue for a while.
I'll need to check when I get home but only a couple of months ago VRR was fixed for me across the board with Gamescope HDR vrr fixes on both my systems so would be disappointing if it broke again. Things seemed to be working but didn't specifically bring up the vrr fps monitor to make sure when I upgraded to f41.
This is a very bad idea.
Try a rollback to an older version, see if it fixes your problem
Bazzite Rollback Helper - Bazzite Documentation
Bazzite is a custom image built upon Fedora Atomic Desktops that brings the best of Linux gaming to all of your devices.
Why?
I wanted to avoid that but if there is no other choice
There's work in progress to make the 60hz lock in steam UI optional, but its not available on stable. Roll back + waiting is the easiest solution
Did the rollback, it works like a charm again
Honestly just hoping they bring back the UI scaling because I absolutely hate how it looks by default with all the cut outs in some screens (particularly settings)
