patching a lined jacket (decorative)

is this true? my target is denim, so that's most of what i'm going for. but it would be nice to have a jacket that's both warm and cozy and also violently anticapitalist. visible examples of topstitch locations if you can find them would also be helpful and greatly appreciated the reddit thread i snipped that from

topstiching is just stiching thats visible on the top of the fabric, so like with jeans all the stitching you can see on the seams or pockets etc what are you trying to do? Do you have a lined denim jacket and you want to do a patch of the denim that sits between the denim and the lining? if so you just want to turn the whole jacket inside out, and look for visible stiching on the lining

oh i thought they meant like a really simple hand stitch kinda deal i was mostly thinking about just putting patches on a lined jacket so i could have a cool punk jacket i can wear into winter

depending on how the lining is attached, you might just be able to move it away from the area you are stitching the patch into otherwise yeah look for a visible stitch where the lining is sewing into the jacket, unpick it so the lining comes away, add your patches, and resew the lining
