OCBD too big to tailor?
I’m at the end of a cut and most of my clothes are running big. It’s been difficult to gage sizing for new purchases without going to slim fits. Is this something I can fix with alterations + putting on a few pounds or am I better off returning and looking for smaller/slimmer fits ?

The main issue here appears to be that the armholes are too big, which is prohibitively expensive to tailor. Is this alpha sized? Slimmer isn't necessarily going to fix this, big armholes is a common thing brands do to make things fit more people.
It’s a 15.5/32 Regent fit from Brooks Brothers
I'd try same sleeve length and smaller neck, assuming you don't need this neck size for wearing a tie.
Thank you, I don’t expect that I will for any OCBDs. What would you suggest for more formal dress shirts? Smaller neck size may be tough on those and I am with you on a slim fit not necessarily fixing all the issues but maybe worth a shot ?
might be worth looking at a different brand or different cut for dress shirts
brooks bros "slim fit" (i believe it was milano at one point) is a slimmer fit than regent which could be a better fit under a jacket
***not to say this one is bad; imo i historically view ocbds as meant to be a little blouson and rugged befitting its humble origins
Do you have any specific brands you like that don’t take the slim fits to the extreme? The Milano style measurements look like they could be better for me, just have to sort through them and find a non non-iron version
Yeah I agree, that’s part of why I don’t want to go with a super slim fit. I’m aiming for a more classic fit without looking like I just bought the wrong size lol
j.press trim fit comes to mind; it's not fused to your skin but it's smaller than their traditional fit (check ebay for deals) https://jpressonline.com/products/trim-fit-oxford-button-down-with-flap-pocket-white

@zeometer have you tried any of the non-iron for brooks? I’m seeing better fits for the Milano but most of them are non-iron
i generally avoid both non-iron and milano fit (personal preference) but from what i've heard of others they are fine
the main issues i can glean are skin feel and cost at retail but your mileage may vary on both
I’m going to pull the trigger whenever I come across a cheap one on eBay and see how I like the feel. Feels like there’s better options out there for the price but let’s see where the journey takes me
