I need brand recommendations
Looking for brands that can give me the John Mayer style I really love and I need hat brands that aren’t Stetson cause I can’t be spending 700 dollars on a hat.

Visvim.
Kapital.
Don't know how I know this as I'm not really a John Mayer guy, but he wears a lot of japanese brands - Visvim (pricey), Tezomeya t-shirts (more reasonable and actually great shirts)
Used Beams plus is probably a good more budget friendly option
:xd: cant be spending 700 on hat, recs $1000 hat
what would be much more helpful is if you provided pictures of specific fits or vibes you want to capture and a more specific budget as well as your geographic region
Just don't buy a Noragi
Visvim don't only make hats and I don't know the jeans/jacket budget 🫣
true true
You could do worse than read this honestly. https://dieworkwear.com/2021/07/13/a-story-about-ranch-dressing/
I'm not a fan of Mayer but he's mostly wearing basic westernwear sprinkled with some Kapital/Visvim and very expensive jewelery

Before arriving in the United States, Igwe Udeh had never seen a cowboy in real life. He didn't even know they still existed. When he was a child in Nigeria, peddlers used to come through his small
If you are into his watches he mostly wears AP royal oaks and Daytonas, but that might soak up some of the hat budget quickly
This is good advice to help us dial you in though
Don’t get me wrong I’d happily spend 700 or more on a hat it’s just that I’d want to hold or see said item in person
Alright lemme send some
Also yeah I know John wears a lot of Japanese brands and Visvim a lot but I’m trying to look for other brands for more variety really
Anyways lemme open up my John Mayer Pinterest board
I have the guitars (can’t play like him tho)
I have a fair amount of the watches
And even the cars
I just don’t have that Mayer Spirit in me
And just overall if you guys have some great brands in ur mind
Please recommend them to me as I’m just overall trying to learn of more brands
hooferdoofer ok youre looking for like americana/japanese americana/a little bit of outdoorsiness
Hooferdoofer?
full stop i wouldnt wear either of these tops unless youre an indigenous person this is one of his worst traits (and just bc a garment might be made by a japanese brand doesnt make it more ok to wear)
Oh uh
I
I have a jacket similar to those ngl
well thats between you and god
Brands to know: Beams Plus, Orslow, Visvim, Engineered Garments, Needles, Post O'Alls, Real McCoy's
Shops that carry: Standard and Strange, Canoe Club, shoplostfound, blueingreen (soho), totem brand, haven, cottonsheep, blue owl, American rag, and blue button shop
secondhand kapital also
RRL, bronson, labour union, brycelands
Awesome
How about accessories
Would add Monitaly (and Yuketen footwear)
ebay
I daily two rings that represent my father and grand grandfather
You can either buy stuff from actual native american craftsfolks, or buy a Goros set for like 10 grand
ebay and etsy or what jawn said
Where could I get my hands on said craftsfolks
And I’ve never heard of a Goros set
In particular the thunderbird embroidery is iirc a pretty sacred Navajo thing
A guy called Goro Takahashi who was trained by Native Americans and made this style of jewelery super popular in Japan. He's dead now and his stuff costs, well, John Mayer money

Goro’s boldness goes against the grain and transcends what is possible for a genuine customer experience.
Oh this guy
Yeah I’ve always wanted one of his pieces
Also I see Eric Clapton wear this feather ring
…
Don’t tell me it came from this guy too
Clapton definitely has some of his stuff
But if you do some small amount of looking around, you can find work by native american artists that will be well made, a LOT cheaper, and you're supporting their craft.
wearing important symbols from a culture you either aren't a part of or understand extremely well is fraught at best
not saying you shouldnt buy from native artists
but like
be mindful
I would imagine they won't sell you anything thats culturally insensitive like a feather bonnet
I'm just saying, you told OP not to wear a noragi and plenty of brands are selling those.
Yeah but thats because the server would explode at him j/k

kapital sells a bunch of dumb shit carrion
do u see me wearing the yohji hole coat
Oh so we cant wear swastikas now?
im choosing to believe that 'guy who thinks john mayer dresses good' can use his best judgment with a little push from me to not buy a noragi or other dumb bullshit
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Its for sale. Plenty of indigenous artisans sell things that have sacred iconography because people have commodified their culture
That's why your "be mindful" post is salient
Thank you guys so much
I’ll be mindful with the pieces I buy
I’ve got the watches covered
nice collection!
We pray for better days and greater opportunities!
