Solution
you probably overwrote windows when you selected the wrong disk in the installer so no cannot fix that
since it does not show up in the file manager
oh
is there any way to shrink the hard drive on bazzite
and still manage to install windows
download the ubuntu iso or fedora workstation iso or pop-os iso and boot it up from the iso
then launch gparted when you "try" the live desktop (ignore the installers)
gparted will let you resize the disk
but we do not recommend single disk dual boot
ask windows will delete the linux bootloader
oh
i have bazzite on secound hard drive and windows was on third
but when i installed it is showed that i had one hard drive
instead of two
you might have something like intel RST enabled in bios then. but that is a guess
but if you disable that then the OS that uses it will not boot
i have intel
intel RST is rapid storage technology, or a fancy word for intel raid
with other stuff
so can i still install windows on third hard drive
RST disks do not show up in linux by default
oh
you will have to disable intel RST if you have to re-install windows
also would recommend disconnecting the bazzite disk when installing windows
i have dell so i don't know if if will even have intel rst
it is in my laptop
otherwise windows does the dumb thing where it installs the bootloader on a separate disk from where you install windows
does not matter
windows does dumb windows things
the installer will see the EFI partition from bazzite and put its bootloader in there even though you told windows to install on a different disk
and that will make windows randomly nuke the linux bootloader when updating windows
also before installation i split the third hard drive to have bazzite installed on that
i installed on bazzite on the that drive
if you cant disconnect the bazzite disk then install windows then bazzite
also what is windows boot menager
i saw that when was trying to change on windows from bazzite
the thing that boots windows when you turn on your pc
and one thing every time i lunch bazzite the taskbar is teleported from one monitor to secound one
wait mb
@HikariKnight i wanna install windows now but can't cuz it saying that I don't have a media drive any fix. I tried checking
go into bios and change the storage mode from RST to AHCI
thats the only thing i can think of if this was a prebuilt or laptop. other than that i have no idea since selecting the wrong disk like you did does not cause this much issues
I wanna install windows on the linux drive
still nothing linux has done should make the drive not show up for windows, i would still say check the bios for the setting i mentioned
I did it but it still doesn't work
then i would check if the disks are even properly attached to the machine because i have genuinely no idea what has caused this to happen for you, do the disks even show up in bios?
Can I just say, I have no relation to this topic but your level of help is impressive @HikariKnight
sadly i cant help with everything even if i want to, i still have no idea what has happened on their system as installing linux literally cannot do what has happened on their system
@HikariKnight i found out that my windows system is still there ( not deleted) it still exists but i can't dual boot it
how many partitions on the disk?
One
I have only one windows
And one bizzite
thats not what im asking
how many partitions on the windows disk
How do it check?
with a partition manager
Doesn't show on linux but i think it is one
this is how a normal windows EFI setup is on a disk (i mounted the drives so you can see what the partitions are they will not be mounted for you)
kde partition manager
or disks
is the partition manager in bazziteOn bazzite disk it shows that i have 3 partion
System
And the other ones were for boot Linux
and the 3 partitions are on the windows disk?
No
Bazzite doesn't even see windows disk some how'
ok so the disk does not even show up in the partition manager
But when i boot windows installer and click browse i can see the disk
well i still have no idea why your system has issues seeing the other disks
i also had a random freeze on my laptop
it happened to me like 5 times
in week
@HikariKnight so i installed windows on my pendrive , and i could format it in windows installator but it still won't show up on bazzite
ok i have no idea why bazzite wont see your disk as i have never experienced this
btw same happend on other laptop
also i didn't enable security boot will that change anything
shouldnt
just dont have CSM (legacy mode) enabled in bios
Also whats this
error: ../../grub-core/commands/efi/tpm.c:142:command failed. error: ../../grub-core/commands/efi/tpm.c:142:command failed.
error: ../../grub-core/commands/efi/tpm.c:142:command failed.
