Starter dress shoes
My brother wears dress sneakers and I am trying to change that.
He doesn't have much of a budget though and probably won't spend more than $200 on shoes. I recommended Meermin to him, but I also recognize they can be stiff and have a long break-in period depending on which model you get. (I speak from experience; I currently own four Meermin pairs.)
I understand that AE has gone way downhill in recent years. Aside from Meermin, are there any good dress shoe brands at a low price point?
Extra points if you have recommendations for brands that have NYC stores.

Why does he need dress shoes? Is it for work or something else?
For religious services mostly, and for going to nice places on dates. I'm thinking some smart plain or captoe bluchers would do the trick.
$200 is kinda tough for dress shoes short of trying on in store then buying secondhand
and also is he aware of/open to this process? might be easier for him to make an account and ask given his own needs
