cirque casual fits fit doctor thread
what’s up u guys. I’ve really been enjoying my more dressed up looks recently, and it feels very comfortable for me to put on like a pretty shirt and some black pleated trousers and feel good.
Of course something to be said for just wearing ur nice stuff to do normal stuff but sometimes I’m just kicking around or going for a neighborhood walk and want to feel cute and casual. It’s this kinda middle segment of the wardrobe, those real everyday things, that I’m struggling with. I have a lot of rlly classic pieces, fatigues, truckers, GATS, NB etc that I love but sometimes can feel uninspired or a little less me.
Anyway I think u all have seen me post and interacted with me enough to have a sense of my taste so kinda just wanted to open up to some insight on some brands or pieces u all thought could be good for me.
I’m including some less dressed up fits I liked as a jumping off point

hey bb
talk 2 me
uk i fw all ur shit so
ya it’s all luv
welcome changes would be a beanie, necklace or loafer (brn or blk would do fine)
literally any overshirt/jacket/less plain shoe
Necklace with the sweatshirt n workwear-y jacket? Like just a plain chain?
that would work!
N I’m so stun locked on finding a loafer that’s too chunky or too #menswear
im realizing i might just hate vans thats not on you but a flannel or even wool shirt would work here too
dont overthink it ull end up like me (wildly impractical chunky loafer that doesnt fit right)
(mono) docs or solovairs would do you right if you wanna just send on something cheap
Oh I agree I’m not really a plaid guy but just a nice kinda textured wool shirt
basically perfect but you could dress it up a lil w a button down or lightweight midlayer like a cardi?
Yeah I’ve got two pairs of mono docs I need to wear more often
the lumber jeans i could die
but ya basically any top layer + maybe a chain
actually perfect no notes
but same deal, chain or top layer
Okay so like more casual leaning button up shirts or like lightweight cardis
if this is what ur going for uve fuckin sent it here
Is main takeaway
this is a really really good level of like
- texture
- proportions
- "some" """color"""
- dressy
Ya this feels very me! Tbh I get rlly hot though so I find layering tricky
ah hm
yeah thats why i love my lil linen work shirt for summer
But maybe linens, lighter wool shirts instead of jackets
Cotton cardigans
maybe a silly q but do u like
have a chore
I have the classic French blue joint
or m65 or cpo
But I don’t grab for it often because it’s sooo blue
ahhh
i have a faded black chore from alex crane, a red cpo (from kapital but thats bc im stupid), a faded blue french workwear thats a lil small and i think that rotation does me well
Like it’s cute but it’s so saturated
beautiful
i mean you can just like
I haven’t quite figured out how to make it work for me
leave it on the roof or something
cream fleece pullover, chunky gray sweater, black puffer vest are my workhorses when its layering szn
but i also will just put on a half- or long-sleeve button down on top of wtv if it looks passable and send it
Yeah I think some textured lightweight knits would do me wonders
ribbed tank? also? or any more rugged brown shoe would take u in a very s0upy direction
That can add some interest without like too much bulk or heat
n im sure yk idk if u thrift but like off depop or ebay or wtv u can get ll bean sweaters for like $20
I need to try a tank I’ve been scared because b0dy.
just send it you look great
Alrigh I agree with kyn on everything and all that but something you can use as an idea (that I tend to default to a lot on lazy fits) is cause I know you got lots of high waisted pants is tuck in a tee
I love these jeans.
espicially if you have dress slacks and stuff
Suede derby could be cool. Hard in the pnw because rain
it just works
I been feeling this with that auralee mohair i bought, its super light so i dont overheat, but the texture makes it very fun
chains also rock in tee fits
Just like same pants n shoes but like. Tuck in tee?
trying to find some straightforward references for u bb
ya i mean you touch on it here but let me full an example of me in a few fits to give an idea
maybe thats egotistical but fuck it
No I’m opening it up hit me
we need bishop in here to just paint over every fit w a better version
Like I said u all know what I rock with by and large
Yes!
ez way to change up your proportions
also jacket over a tucked tank/tee hits super well, cause it obviously gurantees the hems don't line up
avoid jacket hem lining up with shirt hem in general is the other lazy fit trick
Mmm true ur wearing like pinstripe slacks n loafers on that last one but it doesn’t look precious at all
cock post kinda the best example of this tee thing but others are less annoying to do
im so sorry im fucking spamming
4 perfect example of a tucked tee with an overshirt/jacket hitting
also little shirt big pants is ez and looks good a lot
not a lot of shorts here i reckon
all this shit feels like something u could do better
o u want shorts???
now i need to dig through my actual inspo..
pulling from my inspo simlar stuff playing with proportions through tucks
Yeah I do love a big shorts fit and I often feel like more temperature comfortable in shorts/long sleeves than tee shirt and pants

These r all super good though. LIGHTWEIGHT LAYERS
not sure of shoes but that plus bigger tucked in sweater feels like an idea
Yeah like what could I put on top of this? Fuzzy sweater?
postin..
and eggtart used to post lots of little shirt big pant girlies in inspo like so:
just use a tighter fitting tee and it will be more masc for the same thing basically
That all black gsh fit and the red sweater fit bottom middle feel very me
fuzzy sweater, big shirt + tucked in graphic tee (or tank if you wanna be saucy)
or just go lots of baggy
baggy top baggy bottom
I’ve got a bit of a tum on me though I think I’d feel uncomfy in a top this tight?
I do like the look tho!
turtlenecks/mock necks, hats, chains, more visually interesting shoes, playing w collar silhouettes/unbuttoning, light layers
i would bet you wouldn't
it doesn't have to be super tight
Yeah this is very in my wheelhouse and would probably dress like this every day but I don’t want to have to do this much to feel cute
But replace the jacket with a cute sweater n then maybe there it is
you got a cardi?
a cardi feels like the answer
do u have a dangly and/or western belt
the thing u said is 'doing this much' is just suit tank shirt shoes
same vein as some of the other stuff i be talking about
u can get funky w buttoning like meat in the last image and/or u can thrift some slouchy suits
o or look at blo's fits
they are master of simple but fire fits
I do but it’s not super dangly
unironically one of my favorites in the server and their fits are consistently relatively simple, just perfect
Somebody suggested a long braided belt
Which I think could work
Yeah this rocks I could see myself doing a plainer vest n black shoes here but overall it’s in my wheelhouse
i need more spring/summer inspo ffs
more from them that i think would fit you too
I think more 'formal' or visually engaging shoes, bags/totes/tied sweaters or jackets in the top block (if not explicitly worn layers), and being willing to be a little more freaky w open jackets/tanks/unbuttoned shirts could open up a lot of avenues for u
accessories also add way more to simple fits
bags and chains ez
in addition to going bigger or smaller w the top block
ok i went thru what is currently in my inspo folder as much as i need to update and sort it
Yeah the Lemaire double denim fit is obviously beautiful that’s what I was aiming for in my double denim pic up top aha
tank under jacket is like, so good
bags rly do numbers
you don't have to ever plan to take the jacket off either
it just works
theres a reason i steal eli's bags all the time
some loose pictorial thoughts
This I have rlly discovered. I tend to toss on that black engineered garments one because it’s so soft and comfy. But something leather would be NICE
all variations of tank under jacket/shirt where the top layer isn't really ever gonna come off
Shapes on top right I love. Way harder to over heat in the tank too ya?
cos or ebay lmao
there are so many cheap leather bags on ebay it is insane
oyea ply does something adjacent to what ur trying to do SO well
Agreed! Definitely a little more playful but very much in the same vein
ply soup jawn smiles blo aud seth gsh art rej oman (that one guy who posts a bunch of band tees whose name i cant remember)
puma you could probably grab smth from
remy maybe
epistrophy maybe but more formal
ethan maybe
wonky maybe
damb
bishop
obviously
unimpeachably
heckle
we have talked ab this (also wrt the tank) i think i am like
much bigger than you
huge difference in terms of feeling good/comfy in a given fit obv
sam obviously also proportions god
also just a sweatervest with no undershirt rocks if its weather appropriate (same comfort thing though)
i think you might also enjoy just unconventional layering of sweaters or shirts over things
This is also obviously like a whole different thing more of a fitness talk but I very much carry all my weight in my midsection like I’ve been at like 5’10 140lbs and still a 31-32 just because it’s all right in my tum
ANYWAY
im gonna be real i think this is more in your head than anythign
Yeah could be a nice way to use my dressier shirts
doing dumb shit like this feels rly good to me now that i got over the hump
in all of these im like tw: weight talk 5'11 190-200lbs 36-37" waist
31-32 is teeny tiny
Yeah ur wearing the absolute fuck out of these
basically all my weight is also in my tummy/thighs/butt
yeah i am also bigger than you and wear tanks no prob
zeo youre so fit shut up
i mitigate that in part w high waist + wide leg/thigh pants
Although the damb fit above somewhere is a tank that’s not so fitted
o yeah i also have a not fitted comfort colors tank thats fun
also deal with loose skin post weight loss so ribbed tanks took some gumption but is worth it
Ya this could work as a layering piece for me maybe to dip my toes in
Thanks u guys I’ve been into clothes for so long but have only really been shopping with intention for a little bit longer than I’ve been in the server
Kind of daunting building a wardrobe out but it just takes time
it do
trying to think what's on my little to-buy list that could also be of value to you
i think a big fuckoff deep v/cricket/tennis/golf sweater like recommended above
straightforward high waisted pleated khakis/light wash/dark wash jeans
white tees that are either bigger or more cropped than what u got
tanks ribbed/not ribbed fitted/not fitted
slouchy suit or jacket
anyway fits of me in intentionally casual stuff
big short
accessories/rings/bracelets/chains/bags/beanies/hats
honestly fun sunglasses or glasses
yeah esp if u dont need prescription or can get lenss put in
i gotta get new lenses in my alt glasses tbh
the tiny thom brownes r calling to me
lil guys
lil circle glasses are so fun
Hi I think everything you wear is cute
And I don’t think tank under unbuttoned short sleeve is ur vibe
And I think tank under unbuttoned short sleeve is like very 2023 coded
But I do think everything you wear is cute so you can pull anything off
wow I’m banning char if I ever do one of these
Please do
Yeah I’ve definitely got a kinda bookish side to my style that I like playing into but hard to not cross over into dorkus
Khakis for some reason I struggle with but the right tone of brown pant would fix me
I actually find it hard to integrate brown with black wardrobes
Like I feel like I have two sets of clothing
My brown clothes and my black clothes
Yeah I think it would look good objectively but it might feel more masc than me or something idk why but I agree with u
Ok nvm the only tank under short sleeve I posted was mine and it was in 2023
char lives another day
Yeah the fashion world kinda left that one behind quick lol
Kinda same there’s earth tones cirque and all black cirque
ooooooohhhh you need more ek two pleats
I think there’s a lot of black+earth tone/brown/khaki inspo above
U might just need to spec into harvestys
I just got my pair and they’re maybe the only thing from my proxy I’m happy with
I’m on like a one ek two pleat every two years budget
But yes
whatever these are that smiles has live rent free in my head
They r just awesome pants. My Yoko Sakamoto jeans were huge for me too
But also my king u know this there are 1000000 pants online for $20 or less
Especially if u are willing to belt
Lmao Caldwells
Shinya kozuka also makes great pant
Yeah I think I was anti belt for a long time and it’s done me a great disservice
Finally coming around to sizing up n belting
@smiles Are these the caldwells too?
join the harvesty party baby
Scrunched waist so hot rn
yes
will also echo kyn's suggestion of slouchy suits
that + graphic tee is an easy fit
Yeah getting on my eBay suit search would be helpful. I haven’t found a blazer I love love the fit of so measurements r a bit of a challenge for jackets but may just need to take some swings
cirque everyone said everything super helpful but I wanna echo that you should definitely go for the tanks + I can see you wearing tf out of some jewelry
I do love my kinda southwesty rings but necklaces have proven harder!
if u have decent thrifts by u go in person
if u give me an idea of what ur looking for i can doomscroll a bit
I think simple pendant and silver
But not just a chain
iight
if u can send me some inspo in dms or here lmk
and ill shoot you some stuff as i scroll l8r
I just saw this I’ll read through later to see if I have any thoughts that weren’t covered
THANK GOD
have you looked at tweed? I feel like u could fit the right piece in ur style for that ahem dark academia touch
Heading down to the copy center to get this thread printed and spiral bound so i can catch up
Ya I think there’s a slot in my wardrobe for something a little professorial like that fooooor sure
Hard to find something that’s not too busy or with gimmicky buttons or patched or whatever
I get what u mean
For vintage anyway. I wonder if like mfpen or our legacy do a cool one
I think to rock a tank under a jacket or even on its own you kinda need need a chain or something else to work within the space that the deep scoop necks open up. Bandana could work too
Chain/pendant/necklace/whatever I mean
I think it also might be worth trying one less cuff on your pants in some of the above fits. I think just a touch of break reads casual and can help make the whole fit feel more “relaxed”
If your cuffs are not sewn in obv
just ran across this one on a japanese retail site and thought of this
it goes kinda hard
Ur so ek, Yoko Sakamoto, auralee pilled @oman121
:nooooo: its bad
But yeah that is noice
and this isnt even any of those
Love a double zip
Okay so everyone hit a lot of good stuff, I’ll second that tucked in t shirt is easy mode for simple fits that look more “considered.” The inverse being oversized top in a fun way, I think if you have like one element that’s whacky proportions that you can work with, you can cook up something fun without a lot of effort. I basically either get my high waist joints out and make my top half teeny tiny then add layers as necessary or I get my big tops and go full slouchy mode.
I think just keeping your color palettes clean, which you do in all the examples, also keeps you looking put together without having to think too much
The other thing I think you would enjoy is some dumber casual slipper type shoes
Get some velvet embroidered ones with something silly or some cow print/hair-on cow leather shit
Lowkey fit but well done with a playful element seems to be the vibe
I like my giant button ups for this too, if I wear them untucked with the cuffs undone I get swallowed which is a vibe, or I can tuck and tighten the cuffs for a really billowy dramatic top half
So yeah just do something fun with your proportions without adding too much trouble, keep the colors clean so you don’t have to think too much, and I always lean towards a nicer shoe that is just treated like a sneaker
Fits that are basically just shirt pant shoe
