Fall cardigan/sweater/coat recs

So it's my first Fall putting some thought into the way I dress, so I'm looking for some recommendations for items I can layer with. Specifically: 1. A good brand for cardigans and/or sweaters. I don't really have any mid-layer items like this. I was looking at these, but open to suggestions (ideally in the $50-$100 range): https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E469402-000/00?colorDisplayCode=07&sizeDisplayCode=004. Additionally, what are some good colors to go for? Gray, brown, beige, olive kind of thing? Again my wardrobe is pretty empty regarding these items so I'd like to get some versatile staples before venturing into more out there styles. 2. Essentially same questions as above but for bigger overcoats. I don't really have any of these... 3. Pants! I have a fair amount of denim and lighter cotton/linen, but not much heavier stuff. Are chinos a good idea? What about corduroy? I'm early 20s in a moderate/leaning cold climate if that matters. I'm 6'0" 165, medium-slim build. Thanks in advance for any tips or recommendations!

If you’re willing to buy secondhand: polo ralph lauren, brooks brothers, banana republic, J Crew, LL Bean. Plenty of sweaters available around your budget on eBay.

do you want an overcoat because you want it specifically or are you looking for a jacket for cool weather? chinos, corduroy pants, and even jeans are all viable options for pants in winter. the same brands linked for sweaters will also have pants, while levis and wrangler have affordable jeans

im honestly not sure. an overcoat seems kinda hard to pull off if you don't know what you're doing lol

Overcoats are easy to style IMO because, if you get a good one, they stand out on their own and look good with everything. I like this Derek Guy guide. Lean toward something big and with a little bit of drama. https://putthison.com/get-an-overcoat-this-fall/ Don't get something short or slim. Camel is classic. A gray herringbone or Prince of Wales can look great and is easy to match with things. Navy tends to look a bit formal, if that's what you want. The Uniqlo, Muji, and J.Crew options can pretty solid for the price if they're 100% wool. There are a LOT more options on eBay too.

what i was moreso getting at was: overcoats are cool and fairly easy to style but they aren't the only option (puffers, peacoats, deck jackets, field jackets, barbours, etc etc etc) budget is the bigger question because, unless you buy secondhand, $50-100 isn't going to net you a great one unless you get lucky with uniqlo's balcamaans
