Updated Jeans Guide

Any current guides on jeans. Searched and only found the old ones, I’m looking at the bonobos classic fit gramercy jeans. But at $150 I know there’s better options. Need the athletic fit as most fits are too tight in the thigh. Even some “athletic fits” are too slim. But open to exploring as some of more current fits are wider,

To be honest, any denim branded as "athletic" is probably going to fit weird. Making a thread here is good, you could also chat in https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1137087932088463400 Are you looking for a washed denim, or something raw or selvedge?

The Athletic stuff end up being the only things that don’t look slim on me. But still has the taper I’m trying to avoid

"Athletic fit" generally means wider thigh, tapered leg. Look for straight, relaxed, or wide cuts. Measure the thigh in pants that you currently own and compare them to some of the brands listed in the denim thread linked above. "Find your fit" guides can be helpful, but the actual measurements are most important. Also fwiw bonobos tends to run extra slim anyway.

If you’re okay with raw denim I would direct you towards any of the big Japanese raw denim companies. Sugar cane, oni, samurai, full count, the list goes on Pretty much all of those will carry athletic fit. Personally I stay in wide or straight leg fits since I don’t like the taper these days

Yeah I don’t want the athletic fit anymore But most straight fits are super slim Probably a relaxed fit is a win for me

Oni 222 and black sign wides are what I would do then I can’t speak for any denim on aliexpress but I can say that the attention to detail and fabrics used from the above brands I mentioned is worth the cash I can’t praise them highly enough

This is not true. Red Tornado is supposed to be OK Bronson and SauceZhan are other Chinese brands with decent reputations

On me. Yeah. 100 % of the time. You have others options?

I mean you said you were looking at "bonobos classic fit gramercy" which looking at them seem to be a pretty slim and tapered compared to a classic straight jean like a Sugar Cane 1947. Bonobos doesn't provide measurements but unless you've got actual tree trunks for thighs straight fits are generally not super slim, slim fits are. If your legs are that big then it might make sense to size for thighs and wear a belt.

I mean. I do have really big thighs and have bought quite a few straight fit jeans that are really slim on me, I don’t even touch slim jeans. But like I was saying, the classic fits seems to be nice and what I was looking for size wise. I appreciate your feedback on it

Uniqlo's wide fit jeans look like a nice fit and are much cheaper than Bonobos, that's an option. I don't really like any of the Bonobos cuts I've seen. I also think those Red Tornados are probably decent, just be sure you know your measurements.
