1 nameserver operation

Hello, is it possible to use my domain with cloudflare using only 1 nameserver? I do not care about uptime a lot, and I would prefer running only on 1 ns

If you insist on a such kind of setup, -- the only options are likely limited to the following: 1. Run your own name server, and use the Partial (CNAME) set up, which can be done with the Business plan (or above). https://developers.cloudflare.com/dns/zone-setups/partial-setup/ 2. Run with Cloudflare as Secondary, which can be done with an Enterprise plan. https://developers.cloudflare.com/dns/zone-setups/zone-transfers/cloudflare-as-secondary/ Free and Pro plans require both of the assigned name servers.

uhh, do you know any workaround, that will let me connect to 2 cloudflare nameservers, using only 1 ns record on my domain provider? i can give you the whole background to why i want to do this if you want

The latter part you're referring to, is actually the way with Cloudflare as Secondary. The whole background would perhaps be helpful, in order to figure out any potential solutions. Although, I'm not sure we'll be able to find a way, if you're also insisting on running the set up with the lower (e.g. Free or Pro) plans.

So, i am new to all these website and other things, so i want to experiment a bit, and don't want to pay for a domain yet so i am using freedns.afraid.org, but for some reason, every dns record counts as a separate subdomain, so setting up cloudflare costs me 2 slots out of 5, that's why i am looking for a way to use cloudflare fully, but setting only 1 ns record on the freedns website is this detailed enough?

The 2 of 5 "cost" is something you would need to deal with the freedns.afraid.org team about though. freedns.afraid.org is (unless something changed recently) only providing sub-domains, in a way which isn't considered a valid domain name, according to the kind of set up you're trying to do. My recommendations will therefore be: 1. Get a real domain name. 2. Drop (over-thinking) the idea, and move on (with something else).

Yeah, i was wondering if it was possible to like use another nameserver to... idk how to explain that so freedns (using 1 record) --> some dns hosting etc. --> (2 records) --> Cloudflare Would something like that even work?

With a free sub-domain? My response would be: No, that won't work.

Okay Actually, after thinking a bit longer, cloudflare helps me even in this situation I just need to set 3 dns records on cloudflare and it pays off + you get all of its amazing features

How do you set DNS records on Cloudflare when you run your own nameserver?
