Steam ROM Manager is giving me an error when I install it.
The error says:
I am unsure if this is causing the problem, but I cannot upload custom artwork to my games. When I remove and reinstall the app from the store, I get the above error every time.

they need to fix their flatpak
use the appimage from their release page on github instead until they fix it

Thank you for the information!
What would be the most efficient way to do this on the Ally X in Bazzite?
I'm not sure how to install it
its an appimage, you can download the appimage, double click it.
or use gear lever (pre-installed) to add the appimage to the application menu and stuff if you plan to use it more than once
Oh
I see it now, I didnt know the AppImage was the one I needed.
Thanks.
Actually I just saw that there is an update for it
Lemme see if this fixes it
Nope
Gonna try manual install
I'm confused, does this install? It seems to be a self contained app.
appimages are selfcontained
hence the name
app image
kinda similar to how macos gui apps are just a folder with the
.app
extension and contains mostly everythingSo do I put this somewher to replace the one that would be downloaded?
if you want to "install" it you use gear lever which should be preinstalled as i said before
Sorry I am super new to this
its why i highlighted stuff this time, since you clearly missed it earlier 😂
And using this it wont mess up the settings I have in the app already?
Crap there are 2 in the apps menu now
One with my parsers and one without
no because it will use settings from $HOME/.local or $HOME/.config instead of $HOME/.var/app/flatpakname/blah
once you run it once if you need to copy over any settings you have you can copy them from the flatpak location, just figure out where they are supposed to be in your home folder, most of the times copying those files into the right place will just work (keep the application closed when you do this)
Ok I will work through that
Thanks for your help
to get it up and running
worst case you will have to manually set everything up in the appimage manually
Ok
but yeah if there are any config files they usually go inside the
.config
folder in your homefolder
and then inside a folder named after the application (if the dev who made it is sane)lol ok
Well It wasnt that error that was stopping me from uploading my custom artwork
