UE4 to UE5
hey guys, I was wondering if the upcoming change to UE5 would affect performance on my mid-low end laptop much as it's running on integrated graphics and a pretty shitty cpu
it currently gets around 80-100fps on a good day so I'm concerned if the move to UE5 is gonna cook my laptop.
also, does anyone know when this change is gonna roll out?

It will definitely affect performance on any machine as UE5 is more demanding compared to UE4 but it wont fry your computer.
can we predict how bad the fps drop would be-
would it still be possible to get around 80-100fps
Compare it to fortnite when it first switched to UE5
I'm ngl I'm already struggling to stay in mid immortal elo with my current fps
just expect less FPS
haven't played either š
didn't even know fortnite used UE5
well I have played it once
I got like 8fps
on minimum graphics
would it be super bad
It will not happen in the upcoming months so don't worry about it for now
I'm worried about it in the long run because I'm currently considering an offer from a team šš
if I can no longer play valorant in (assumedly) a few months due to UE5 being too much for my laptop to handle then that's not ideal for both parties
and getting a new laptop is unfortunately out of the question š„²
well u have a few months to go on indeed and GET A JOB
it's an acer aspire lite 14 if anyone was wondering
it's not a financial thing it's more of ridiculously strict Asian parents thing
felt bru felt
I do have a job and I do have the finances to buy a laptop (pc even) but my parents won't allow it
š
my friends offered to give me their old pc/gaming laptops
well u have months to convice them haha
but obviously my mother refused because she doesn't like 2nd hand stuff
ā ļø
threatened to throw it away
Accepting an offer from a team with a bad laptop?
nah this aspire lite is new so it's not happening unfortunately
it's not a big team and I peaked immortal 3 on this laptop
the performance hit wont be huge but it will be there
Whats the cpu on the laptop?
currently hovering around immortal 1 / 2
i5-1235U
iirc
I5?
yeps
So a 12th gen i5
yup
Gosh u made it sound like u were on a 4th gen i3
no clue what the GPU is tho
naw it's not that bad
I get around 80-100fps on a good day
with some occasional fps stuttering
Prob just iris graphics
that laptop is prob running on integrated
yep
yeah it is
I used to have one with an mx450 which was unironically worse than this one
From what i can see, u should be getting around 120 fps with that
lowkey I'd be fine with keeping my 80fps, that's why I was worried about UE5 cutting it even more
prob can be optimized further
hope so
Does it have 8 gigs of ram or 16?
any predictions for how ass the fps is gonna be?
uh 8 iirc
Thats an issue
which is another reason why I was concerned-
don't think I can upgrade it either
U should be able to
Gimme the laptop model
I recommend just getting another 8 gig stick
lemme check rq
Even if ue5 doesn't effect ur fps that much, that 8 gig is holding u back by so much
U should be getting around 125 fps
its holding him back if the cpu is under 100% util when playing
acer aspire lite 14 N23G2
guh
It shouldn't hit 100% with a 12th gen anyway
Open task manager

Select memory

Philippines?
holy shit restart ur pc
3 days ur laptop has been running

U alrdy have 16 gigs of ram
In single channel for some reason
And 4 slots on a laptop welp
https://downloadmirror.intel.com/835141/gfx_win_101.6083_101.5736.exe
Download and install this whenever u can
Install any drivers it shows
See if it improves the fps a bit
aight thanks š
does that mean I'm slightly less fucked
singapore
i installed everyt
my fps actually got worse
when i uncap it it fluctuates to like 30 now
but if i leave it capped it still stays around 80-100fps
also i did a system test and it keeps telling me i have an i3-6300
What system test?
uh computer benchmark
it keeps detecting my cpu as an i3
also if you search up my laptop model it says it's an i3
but as far as I'm aware that says i5
HAHAHA nice
I'm singaporean
wait uh @jidat my val is lagging more after downloading the stuff u sent me-
U can just reset it by deleting the driver in device manager and updating it from device manager aswell
alr thanks
also my friend said if riot optimizes UE5 well the fps might actually be better?
UE5 aint even here yet and im already cooked
