paraboot Michael? yay or nay?
I’m trying to up my shoe game a little. I don’t do dressy, the dressiest I’ll get is a pair of blundstones with the dry dirt wiped off. But I’ve had my eyes on some paraboot michaels. They’d be the most expensive pair of shoes I’ve ever bought (not that it would be a strain on the budget, it’s just I don’t spend that much on shoes) so I want to be wise about it.
I found a site called peggs & son through reddit and they seem legit and would “only” cost about $480 for a pair.
Are the worth it in 2024 or is there a shoe that fits its niche? Thanks!

I've had a pair since 2016 and haven't done shit to them other than replace the laces. wore them nearly every day from 2016->2020 with a lot of walkin. bulletproof shoes (with annoying sizing).
I'd rec that you buy from a place you can return/exchange them to relatively easily if you go down that path, or hit up one of the more budget brands char brought up to see if it's a style you'll dig

Re: sizing, I wear a 43 in my birk bostons and a 9.5/42.5 in my red wing iron rangers. Typically a 10.5 in sneaks
you probably want a 43 or 43.5
i'm a 10.5 in sneakers as well, but 10 in boots usually. mine are 44's
my bostons are a 42, my michaels are 41.5. 9.5 in sneakers, usually 8.5 in boots.
my mike's are the same size as my red wings

ya i think it really depends on how wide your feet are, my feet aren't super long they're just shaped like kleenex boxes so i was able to size down a lil bit
but i'm a half-size up in my reims and they're snug so who the fuck knows honestly

My Michael's aren't snug but they fit how I'd like them to. My reims are also a 10uk/44 and are a lil big but I can wear em even with thick socks
Weirdly enough my Chelsea's are a 43.5 and fit huge

I love the shoe, but the sizing just might not be for me 😭. My last resort is a tongue pad, but I’m not expecting much
im the type of dumbass to use like 4 different methods to make a shoe that doesnt work work

When you convince yourself that the shoe “breaking in” will magically fix heel slippage every step
I wanted it to work so bad
The cruel thing is that sometimes it does fix heel slip if it’s just a little bit
Arguably worse if it’s too small though
Sizing info: My 41.5 Michaels are a bit loose for my 8eee brannock foot, but sadly they still pinch my pinky toe a bit, so sizing up didn't help with width. Most folks find the width kind but sadly I have not been so lucky.

I ordered them late the other night and they already arrived from the UK. Amazingly fast shipping. I love them! The 42.5 was the right size. They’re a touch snug but they will loosen up just enough to be perfect.

I was absolutely shocked. They got here as fast as ordering from Zappos. Maybe faster considering it was midnight on Monday when I placed the order.
