Using Satisfactory Music in YouTube Videos
Hi! I asked a question in the official Satisfactory discord and got redirected to ask the experts in this discord instead.
I’m working on a Satisfactory YouTube video, and I’d like to use some of the in-game music in the background. Just to be clear, I’m not aiming for monetization at the moment, but if the video performs well, maybe I’d monetize it if it's allowed of course.
I’ve looked into the game files, but I’m struggling to find where the music is located, and I’m unsure about whether I’m allowed to use it. I’ve seen that Coffee Stain Studios generally allows content creators to use game footage and music in videos, but I’m wondering if there are any restrictions, especially around copyright.
Additionally, I’m curious about whether there’s a difference between:
Choosing specific Satisfactory music tracks and syncing them with the video or simply recording gameplay with the in-game music naturally playing in the background.
Are there different copyright considerations for these two approaches? Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

youd want this information - however audio files are encoded for use in the game with WWise and .... well i think maybe we got some stuff working to add new audio, but i dont believe we can get anything done with existing audio.
That being said, the in game music is available on Spotify and the OST is available on steam. I am not a lawyer, i do not know the liscence for use of said music, you would need to contact CSS directly for that information...

You seem to have questions about modding.
You should grab the Aspiring Modder role from Discord's role selection page (<id:customize>) and then read the docs carefully (https://docs.ficsit.app/satisfactory-modding/latest/index.html#_for_developers). If you still have questions after that, please go to #help-writing-mods!

as for your second question... again I am not a lawyer, but it usually depends under which license the music is distributed.
and if CSS would copyright claim the music. I do not believe they would, but again - I am not a lawyer.
