Why is ranked this way?
I don't understand why they don't just let golds play vs golds. Their ranked system is so incredibly toxic and designed to keep you down... I'm a gold 2 and aside from one other gold player, having to play vs a lobby full of plats.
Unfair, imbalanced, toxic, ranked ladder. You shouldn't have to play against players in the next rank until you get to it... Who thought this was a good idea?

because they think u deserve the rank so u get put in those lobbies...
Okay, and then I lose because even if I'm supposed to be in that rank now as their system estimates I should be winning 50% of the time, it makes me sit in the lower ranks longer since I'm having to play a rank ahead.
This system is terrible.
Just give 25 for a win and 25 for a loss, and make people play against their own rank. They will be in the rank they're supposed to be in no time. This fancy MMR crap doesn't work. It's horrible and toxic. I want to play vs the rank I'm in, not plats and diamonds while I'm in freaking gold.
i think you need to worry less about what ranks youre against
i dont see the problem
rank doesnt equal skill at all
i was diamond when i was playing in immortal scrims and clutching up
Lmao you're so dumb bro, this is one of the best systems ever, if you're playing with plats if you lose a game you'll lose barely any rr (unless those plats have gold mmr) and you'll gain prob 40+ rr or maybe even more
if this didn't exist
yall would be here crying about smurfs in your lobbies
no one here wants to fucking play 4 matches each rank
There's smurfs in every lobby anyways and it takes forever to get to the next rank due to playing higher ranks, plus longer because you automatically lose gold games when an immortal smurf is against you.
It keeps people in lower ranks for too long. This is why the majority of the population is silver and gold, yet has a wide range of skill. I've been diamond before at peak, and it is harder in freaking gold than it was at diamond.
And also jumping out and calling someone dumb for their opinion is a very low iq way to debate. I'm a systems administrator for the department of defense, make 150k/yr, and 60k of it is a guaranteed passive income... and I'm retiring in the Philippines in April at the age of 34. I assure you, I'm not "dumb", but thanks for your opinion π
it does not AT ALL keep you in lower ranks for too long, this system exists for the sole reason that IF youre better than your rank, even if theres smurfs you will 100% rank up, also gold is not at all hard, if your skill level is plat / diamond and your rank is gold, even if you lose 10 matches in a row it literally does not fucking matter, thats the POINT of this system, and if you somehow dont understand that i literally dont care how much money you earn youre pretty dumb.
This system promotes being selfish
and awards individual skill more than team play
bro it is just a game play it for fun not for ranks
"Smurf in every lobby"
Also u mentioned u are a diamond peak, and u r complaining about plats being in ur lobby?
G2 and plat are like 1 rank apart
U even have a problem with that?
Also it looks like u lost cuz of a bad jett
Nothing to do with ranks
your mmr is way to high
I agree, it's because my account used to be D1, but I haven't played in about 2 years aside from hopping on here and there and running a few comps to get placed (when that even happened). I'd be absolutely fine with my MMR going down to gold or even silver, because I'm bad now and play like an actual silver/gold right now to be honest (I have no idea what happened).
I got placed silver 3, won a match, and it skipped me to g2. Now I'm playing vs plats all the time even though I'm in gold and I'm hardly good enough to be playing vs golds right now until I start to get my skill back, if that happens... Might just be washed as I'm getting older.
I don't really think anything anyone says is going to convince me that a ranking system that forces you to play versus the next rank before you're even in the rank is a good system. Maybe someone can, but thus far, I don't think so.
In my opinion, you should simply have to prove you can beat all of your matches in the rank you're in, and then be progressed to the next rank (in my case I would get to Platinum) and then only play versus Platinum players.
I'd even go so far to suggest that per act, once you receive the next rank you can't de-rank.
For example, if I start getting better again and get to Platinum, I'm stuck in Platinum until the next act (which I will probably be placed in Gold or Silver again). I say this because nothing is lamer than finally hitting the next tier and then having a few bad games (whether it's you or your team being subpar) and then going right back down. It feels toxic and feels like your time has been wasted.
When someone that values their time (prevalent in higher income people) feels like their time is being wasted, they will take a break from the game (like I have). When that happens, they're no longer spending money on skins. Whereas when they're fully interested and feeling like they're progressing and having fair matches, they are more likely to make cosmetic purchases. Just my $0.02
I am trying to. But when you aren't at the skill level they think you are and you're in lobbies where you get 1 tapped every time you swing the corner so fast you can't even react, it's not fun. I don't care about rank right now, I just want to have balanced matches. I should be able to utilize the competitive mode's ranking system to play versus players of equal skill to me, not feel like I'm fighting an uphill battle the entire time.
Maybe if there was an MMR reset button where it resets your MMR to your current rank, this wouldn't be as much of a problem... hmm.
It really feels like it. Many of the gold/plat players right now feel like the Diamond / Asc players I used to play against. It's completely nuts! Maybe it's just the entire player base has gotten significantly better and raised the skill ceiling which is entirely possible... again, because the ranking system keeps players stuck in lower tiers on purpose.
I don't rly get ur point how the rank system does it on purpose and what will riot gain from that
It gives more rr if ur mmr is high and also double rankups
if you're playing with plats thst means you're also currently playing like a plat, if you were playing very very bad in those lobbies the game would put you back in gold lobbies
damn
but bro u writing paras π
sometimes it makes people rage
maybe true
ye it does to me too but i just dont react that much
Sometimes players are losing quite a bit and it's actually not their fault and I know this because I've been in that situation, although it's the inverse of my current situation.
I've had time periods where I was getting game MvP, team MvP, or at least rank 2 on team many games back-to-back but losing still on my climb to diamond where I was trying hard to improve. Because I was losing, regardless of my performance, my MMR was tanking even though I personally was doing well.
Losing itself does affect MMR a lot, even if you're playing great every game. If you're going worse than 50% win/loss, you're going to gain less rating for winning than you do for losing... therefore, it is keeping you down on purpose. I'm not saying Riot gains anything from it and never made that accusation - just seems to be a very flawed system when at times I have personally been gaining 11-13 RR for wins, and losing mid-high 20s for losses, even though I was performing well the entire time (unlike now).
Yea I do that sometimes. Just know it's typically nothing for me to type a paragraph and even though it seems like a lot it's really not. As mentioned before I'm a professional in a high-end IT field, and part of that comes with being fast and efficient on a keyboard. Here's a quick test to give an example. Haha.
woah 137 not bad
damn
I am in 9th grade lol
Too much complaining, not enough winning
