ni(nh3)6 cannot haave dsp3d i know its an exception but how many of these exceptions do i have to rememmber please help me out 😦

hey three things matter 1. nature of metal (4 d 5d have high splitting energy so usually pair ho jate hain) 2. charge on metal (high charge = high splitting energy, favour pairing) 3. str of ligand, strong field ligand inc splitting energy, favours pairing so essentially pairing energy vs splitting energy you gotta check. whichever is lower, is favoured.

so basically for this example dsp3d it becomes sp3d2 , does that it mean it favours pairing here also what ccharge is considered high

You have to see actual values of energied but usually 3 is high. And inner orbital complex usually means pairing.
