Installing Mods From Sources Other than Ficsit
How do I install a mod that I downloaded from github(like these mods: https://github.com/mklierman/SatisfactoryMods/tree/main) ?

You'd have to update and compile the mod yourself
So you should most likely just wait for the mod to be updated by its author
The mod is updated, just not posted on ficsit
Well, you'd still have to set up the mod development tools and build that mod, if you want to use it now
It is in the same format I have seen other mods being in.
It's not, those are the mod source files
What is the file extension for the compiled ones?
.uplugin?
No, the uplugin is just a text file containing the information about the mod
The full mod consists of multiple dll, pak and other files, all combined in a zip
Where are they stored?
They aren't stored anywhere

You seem to have questions about modding.
You should grab the Aspiring Modder role from Discord's role selection page (<id:customize>) and then read the docs carefully (https://docs.ficsit.app/satisfactory-modding/latest/index.html#_for_developers). If you still have questions after that, please go to #help-writing-mods!
They are compiled
When you build the mod with the mod dev tools
So there is no way to use mods that aren't stored in ficsit.
Unless you're willing to set up the mod development environment, no
You will need to learn how to mod if you want to try and install from a repo.
But those are Digby mods, he will update them in SMR :soon: have no fear
Okay.
Am I allowed to create a new mod, make it hidden, and upload the new version from github there?
not without permission
@Cuttleguy which mod are you looking at in particular? If I have it in my repo but not uploaded there is probably a good reason
This was before you released the updates
Oh geez. Blame Trunky for bringing this back from the dead
lol mb
We should probably also note, that according to modding the server rules, we cannot assist in installing mods obtained elsewhere than the official mod repository. ℹ️ Even if they were ready compiled files and not just source. Mainly because it usually means user is doing something they shouldn't.
Never mind. The mod is updated. Thank you, you have made my life so much easier(Infinite Zoop is a life saver)
