No sync between Android filesystem and termux
as the images show, there exists a
file.pdf
in termux that isn't showing up in google files. I am open to other methods of editing/downloading a file in termux and accessing it via gfiles, but do not want to use thirdparty file manager applications to view this file. any help?Solution:Jump to solution
$ termux-media-scan -r ~/storage/shared
updates your indexing or whatever of the files on your phone. Without this they will appear there with noticeable delay. All applications which don't scan memory directly will have this.31 Replies
are these files inside termux? (first screenshot)
did you set your file manager for SAF?
saf?
you file manager needs to be SAF complient to access termux folders
oh
i missed that part
i would like to think google files would be compatible with its own os, no?
nope
it will give you access to termux... by launching it
i use total commander on android for that
ex:
is an external file manager really the only way?
first i choose the entry to set a new folder, i choose termux, and then it's added
any way to open via xdg-... or termux-api?
@gilgamesh
everything is there
what's wrong with another file manager tho?
google one is faaaaar from being the best, so, why are you using that one and not another?
i have a distaste toward other Android file managers due to lack of support and my last experience with 'Awesome files' (full of ads)
was FOSS too
you can try total commander, it has no ads at all, no premium feature no nothing (it even has some plugins for ftp, google drive and other thing)
do you use Dropbox with it?

i don't think it has dropbox plugin
dammit
TotalDrip-Plugin for Totalcmd - Apps on Google Play
Total Commander Plugin - requires the app Total Commander to work!
actually, it has
you'll have to check if it works, last update is from 2023
but
do not get total commander from playstore, use the official website
too many restrictions cause of google policy
aight I'll check it out after i try termux-api
thanks
just in case, that's where you can find the unrestricted version https://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=76644
here for plugins https://www.totalcommander.ch/android/plugins.htm
main difference is the ability to use total commander to install apk directly
why isn't there an fdroid version?
š¦
https://www.ghisler.com/fdroid.htm
not sure it is the unrestricted one, but go for it
oh okok ty
broken
works on fdroid
you need to sync all repos after adding it
google's file manager isnt reliable at all, its more of a file cleaner
switch to totalcmd or material files
Solution

another file manager is such bloat
gfiles gets work done in a material you way, plus third-party storage services
gfiles third party storage wont let you access termux folder tho
it is not SAF compatible
totalcmd is
