Black shoes for basic wardrobe - Doc Martens 1461 sizing?

Hey all, I've gone a while not owning a pair of black casual shoes and have decided I want to remedy that. For right now I'm looking at chunky derbies, but I would like some suggestions for black sneakers as well. I've been looking at the DM 1461s with the contrast stitching, and they seem like they're broadly recommended. I was about to pull the trigger on a second-hand pair but read some posts/reviews that suggested sizing down. Does anyone have experience with the sizing? For reference, in Adidas Sambas I wear a US mens size 8. Would you recommend getting a size 7 in the docs? Thank you!

In my experience they run big. 1 size down from my sneaker size in Docs is a good fit for me, maybe a touch snug. My sneaker size is a little too roomy even with an insole added, though I do have a pair in this size that is wearable, just not ideal. Wish they made half sizes!

make sure you know if you're buying UK vs US sizing though

Sorry to bump this thread. Would you recommend getting them second hand off Poshmark or Grailed?

All of mine have been second hand, so yeah for cost savings, but if you wind up with the wrong size that might not work out
