U told me and many other told me to write down product key before formatting
And i reset the pc and i thought that we would not require product key if im just resetting the pc
So i forgot to write it down😢
And now im getting this “not activated” thing

that red error message means this is probably a former business PC, and it has a version of windows on it that needs to talk to that specific business's license server for it to activate
yup, a volume license
that said, I don't think unactivated windows is that annoying nowadays. Isn't the worst thing you can't do "change your desktop background"?
it's super cheap for companies to get a pack of volume licenses and use them like candy
and some settings
and it shows "activate windows" on the corner
it's perfectly usable for 99% of stuff though
you can force to change the background anyways
and likely change the settings too
but seriously, try to activate via phone

every tutorial i looked up showed a completely different method
and i didnt know which one to trust
and there was no mention of calls
Then I wouldn't even care to activate it.
i only said to activate by phone because it's a 10 minute process, at most, and removes the annoying restrictions
