Windows 10
So i was saying
How-To Geek
How to Find Your Windows 10 Product Key Using the Command Prompt
Need to find your Windows 10 product key?
I did not require these stuff the last time i formatted pc
Why is that so?
it's a safeguard
usually, pcs since windows 8 have the license key burned into the bios
but, if for any reason, windows doesn't detect the key, you can use the written down key manually
Oh
Okay
you need to have a copy of everything you need
Yo
Could you all give me a video tutorial on how to format pc windows 10
The ones im getting have negative comments
Oh i just found one nvm
well, download the media creation tool or use rufus to make an usb drive
you can download the iso for free from microsoft
then, you backup everything
now, download all the drivers for your pc
if you have an office pc, you can easily find those in the website of the brand
if the brand says "you can use ... to download the drivers", skip it
after that, turn off the pc and disconnect from the internet (remove the wifi adapter) and disconnect ALL THE DRIVES IN YOUR PC
except the drive where you will install windows, and the usb drive that has windows
THAT IS A MANDATORY STEP
windows has this shitty habit of installing the bootloader into any drive it finds, even if it isnt the drive you selected
sometimes, it may install into a random usb drive too
then, just select the correct windows version (probably pro)
on the part with the drives, if you didnt create an extra partition for your documents, delete all partitions
if you did, format the windows partition and select it
the rest is easy
also, make a local account
after you are at the desktop, install all the drivers and shutdown the pc
then, you connect all drives back and connect to the internet
make sure it activates with the key you wrote down
Yoo
This is crazy
Thanks for the info
if you need a video, then watch jays2cents tutorials
he explains everything really well
Okay
Btw i was told that total formatting and half formatting is different
How long would it take on average to do a total formatting
I think i should do it since all my files are to be removed anyway
you dont have a choice
also, there is no such thing as "half format" in windows lingo
either quick format or full format
Yes i think they meant that
the difference is that the quick is quick-ish (a few minutes max) and the full formats everything (which can take hours or days)
Damn
Thats crazy
windows always does a quick format and moves on
But
Is the full format worth it
Theres just a few files in my pc anyway
if you have a 14tb hdd and write to it at 100mbps average, it will take a long long time
Like literally 4-5 more than the default ones
that doesnt matter
you can have 0 files
Oh
you can have a billion
Damn
it has no influence in how long it takes
Oh
Will quick format also remove every trace of a virus from every place that it could reside in?
Im not even sure if theres a virus
a full format has to write everything, a quick format just destroys the filesystem metadata and writes new one saying it's all blank
no
Oh
there are viruses that can infect your uefi/bios
and even the hdd firmware
😮
What shoukd i do
and some can just be faking keyboards, like a payload in a rubberducky device
if you have a virus, disconnect it physically from the internet (remove the wifi thingy), backup the data to somewhere else (preferably not over usb) and then pray
oh, and format it
Ohk
and next time, dont get infected
Im not even sure if theres a virus
well, format it
Btw
I have a total of 270gb space in all my drives
Would it still take days
For a full format
