No Coordination no is how much coordination bonds the central atom has made Denticity is how many coordination bonds ligand can make

metal atom makes coordinate bonds? Isn't that only when synergic bonding takes place?

no , coordination bond is formed when ligand donates electrons , syngeric bonding is when ligand donates electrons and also takes electrons in its vacant orbital

Can u give an example where denticity and coordination no. Are not equal

Many , take like uh [Co(en)3] here CN of Co is 6 and denticity of en is 2

Oh i see, actually I meant the total denticity of all the ligand molecules, not just one Denticity of 3 en is equal to the coordination no. of metal I forgot to say all the ligands
