Hi, i wanted to play val today and it kept closing my game because vanguard wants secure boot to be on. I restart my pc, go into bios and its already on. Im using win11 btw

i used a thing that searched for windows home codes just to get rid of that ,,activate windows'' thing
oh and when i migrated to win 11 random windows programs used to spike up in cpu usage

basically for ur pc to boot in UEFI mode, u need to have ur disk in GPT partition mode

While some specific combinations of CSM and UEFI settings can lead to booting problems (like the conflicts mentioned in the previous conversation), they will not cause physical damage to your motherboard. The worst-case scenario is usually just being unable to boot, requiring you to go back into the BIOS and change the settings.
The idea that enabling CSM fries a motherboard is a myth and should be disregarded.

nah when i just installed windows 11 on my old pc i tried launching val and it told me to turn on secure boot but i had my CSM on the wrong setting and it fried my MB when i turned on secure boot

I don't wanna start this again, but respectfully u can't have CSM on and boot in UEFI mode at the same time as CSM being disabled = uefi so disabling CSM IS uefi
while you wouldn't typically have CSM actively managing a legacy BIOS boot while simultaneously booting in UEFI mode, having CSM enabled doesn't inherently prevent UEFI booting
it's just that some of the UEFI features that are not in legacy, are disabled, one of them is secure boot

Look at it this way, a pc is in legacy boot mode and the drive in which windows is installed is in mbr format and we convert it to gpt, now we go into the bios and to make it UEFI we HAVE to disable CSM as CSM in this case would be managing the legacy boot

In all the older pcs and even some new ones which are using legacy bios for whatever reason are moderated by CSM
