God Of War severe FPS drops
THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED! Updated DXVK 2.4.1 completely solved the issue! So just manually update it https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2024/09/dxvk-2-4-1-brings-improvements-for-launchers-more-robust-d3d8-lots-of-game-fixes-for-linux/

DXVK 2.4.1 brings improvements for launchers, more robust D3D8, lot...
The Vulkan-based implementation of Direct3D 8, 9, 10 and 11 for Linux used in Wine / Proton, DXVK version 2.4.1 is out today. This is a huge part of what makes Valve's Proton able to run so many Windows games on Linux / Steam Deck.

zram-generator is in etc, owned by root
you can change it with sudo
with 64gb of ram though you should be having no issues. Default zram size is 4GB
yea but FPS tanks really hard in God Of War, and the game warns me about pagefile... SUpposed to work fine
I don't think that changing zram (or swap) when you have 64GB of RAM isn't going to fix your issue
I'm in agreement
that's about the equivalent of saying that suddenly 68GB is fine but 64 is not
just finished a GoW playthrough with the same 64GB RAM, never had that issue.
Maybe NVIDIA Drivers i dunno
but sometimes FPS drops to 30s and lower
yea but still weird that game has an issue with it
error screens + logs would be useful here
and while you're at it, a mangohud readout during the game, especially where it slows down
How to check mangohud readout?
sorry im new to linux
add
MANGOHUD=1 PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
to your Steam launch options
then mangohud will show up in the upper left. you can screenshot it
the log will be stored in ~/
Here you are...
Another one
The drops start when I open the door (traverse?), and fps never recovers, looks like a memory leak or smth
your RAM and swap used don't show a memory leak in a way that would hose your performance
the end of that mangohud reading ends with no significant spike
you don't even touch swap
your RAM usage doesn't go over 18
yes logically and in fact but doesnt change the fact
drops to 30s and lower on FHD, high settings, even with low and DLSS
Ill try this and tell you if it solved the issue or not
we do this by default
again, not your problem
do not follow those instructions either, you will break shit
that's not the way to add kernel arguments in Bazzite either
did you ever record a Proton log?
nope
but other games work usually fine, weird
lemme check proton log thing
ahh the file is too big
ill upload it now to g drive
the log can really balloon. I started SF6 just to see the title screen and it was already 5MB of text
btw SF6 world tour also tanks fps on any settings
WT is a power hog
The log
yea to be frank it performed bad even on Win 11
what to check in this log file, it's huge
