Solovair/Gripfast fit/sizing question
I just picked up a pair of Solovair steel-toe derbies. While their website recommends going a half size down for this model I ended up purchasing them true to my normal size (US 11.5). Wearing them as they are my feet slip around in them a little, but not enough for me to fit a finger between my heel and the counter. They don't want to slip off when I walk, either. Adding an insole from one of my other shoes helps to lock them in better, too. Is this acceptable? Do I need to go another half-size down? Will they get unacceptably loose post-break in? I have little experience with leather shoes, so I'm not quite sure what to expect. Thanks in advance for any advice

They will soften up over time but they won't stretch an entire half size. As long as your feet feel fine that's all that matters. You can also get heel/tongue pads to help the fit
