i washed my rainjacket and it's not water repellant anymore
Do you have any guides on how to pick a spray for it? What i should be looking for etc?

yeah, so i bought a water repellant rain jacket for the first time, and after some use it became stinky so i washed it and now it soaks water :/
I asked in general and was recommended nikwax techwash and tx-direct
Following this thread, I have a raincoat who soaks water like a sponge
i hope it's okay that i tagged you here
@Soup
Not a problem, like I said I've used the Nikwax two part before and found it to work really well. It is slightly annoying in that you have to wash the garment twice. First with the techwash and then again with the waterproof coating. I always just followed the guide from Nikwax on how to apply

How to Clean and Re-Waterproof your Rain Jacket -
Over time, rain jackets can lose their water-repellency. Waterproofing doesn’t last forever. Whether from rubbing against a dirty car while packing up groceries, or a muddy dog wanting snuggles, a dirty jacket will stop repelling water. Luckily, it’s easy to clean and re-waterproof your rain jacket so you can stay dry. The trick is to clean
it may be that there are better/easier to apply products, hopefully you'll get more suggestions or input later in the day as most users are based in the US
im trying to find this brand or alternative in my local stores rn bc im not in the US
Ah yeh that could be an issue, I'm UK so this was easily available to me in outdoor shops like tiso or cotswolds
grangers and gear-aid are two other brands
would also add it can be useful to dry a newly reproofed garment on a very low setting
You can also get spray on waterproof coatings which are probably good in that they are convenient but I think the products that you wash the garment in in a washing machine will ensure you get a more even coating than doing it using a spray
that's better, that might mean that this brand is present in my county)
i usually dry clothes by hanging in open air
yes, and a lot of reproofing products work better if they're put in a tumble drier on a low setting for 20-30 minutes after application. They still work with air drying though.
ok, i found nikwax in my local stores. Probably will buy it
do you know what fabric it is? goretex for example can be reactivated just by drying it in a machine on low for a few minutes
idk what brandname for this type of fabric is, but its 90% polyester 10% elastan. Brand for the jacket is weather report
agreed, the Nikwax waterproof spray is great for sneakers and backpacks etc but the wash-in works way better for jackets
I bought both nikwax things and washed my jacket. I'll try the water resistance after it dries
