Really need Help Improving our Server Performance
Hey guys, my bf and I are running a home hosted dedicated server (Dell PowerEdge R730 Server | 2x E5-2667 V4 =3.20GHz | 96GB H730)
Currently we are running Jurassic Reborn 2 modpack. We are currently having an issue with the server running behind, like 2500 something. Not exactly sure what to do, how to correct it properly. We've been googling our butts off, just a pregnant woman and her bf wanting to play a game together. Please help! LOL

He's tried to run it off his own hardware (computer) which has better specs that the server (or at least a faster running cpu) and were still having issues.
Tried doing client side JVM arguments. Have done updates, etc.
Really don't know what to do. And were kinda lost.
!spark
Spark Profiler
Spark can be used to see why your server or client is lagging.
Users can share a spark report via
/spark profiler start --timeout 300
which creates a report after 5 minutes. The spark report is useful in debugging why your server is lagging, so ideally you should always provide one while asking for support.

make a spark report with the command shown above
But I have to tell you you that CPU (Xeon) isn’t great for Minecraft. If you can’t switch CPU, please download spark and make a profiler and we can help more there
Ok thanks! We are downloading Spark now and will make the profiler.
 please make sure you’re online while it runs, it means we can get a good idea of what’s causing the lag
Ok my bf is restarting our server now with spark on it. Ill hop into game and play about like i would normally.
thanks so much!
No, thank you!! we're seriously at our wits end LOL

Perfect, thanks.
Do you mind giving a list of what mods you have? You’re on such a old mc version that I can’t see through spark (no worries though)
Yeah Lemme get that for you. its a long list lol
thanks so much

Jurassic World Reborn II
Dinosaur themed modpack based on exploring and surviving. About 310+ mods, Tech, Magic, Exploring, Challenges ...

the only other thing we added was spark.
Please make sure you have the following mods:
1. AI Improvements
2. Alfheim Lighting Engine
3. FastFurnace
4. FastWorkBench
5. Performant
6. Universal Tweaks
I’m on mobile and the mod list isn’t alphabetical so some mods may already be on there!
Dinasours are causing literally 90% of your lag.
I would recommend the lag goggles mod so you can see in depth, in game, what is causing lag (specifically entities)
Alright we will do that, and we didnt know what we were looking at on the spark results but it definitely seemed like the dinosaurs were part of the issue LOL
Thank you!!!
no problem!
There’s only so much this will do, Xeons have really poor singlethreaded performance which doesn’t go well with heavy modpacks
That is good to know!
Would really recommend considering going with some paid hosts like EnviroMC or Bloom, you’ll get better perf and enviro’s budget plan in the US has a very, very good CPU
But if that’s not an option that’s fair
We appreciate it ❤️ !
We'll try what we can and look at the other options
