Can't use SMM at all
I still have Satisfactory before 1.0 and I used a custom install location and SMM tells me that it can't find the install location. If I go into settings I get the same error message. How can I fix this when I have to use a different partition for every piece of software. (i.e. Not using 'C:' but have to use 'D:')

Is should have said mod manager
I have this same exact issue, trying to run an older version and get that errer
SMM can't manage mods in installs with custom locations
The many available guides suggest copying the game back to the normal location, managing the mods, then moving out again
you have to use the original folder with the old version of the game it worked for me.
>downgrade has information about spoofing steam temporarily
It's possible to use SteamCMD to go back to previous versions of the game. This only works if you own the game on Steam - there is no alternative for Epic. For Epic, you must back a backup of the game files before the update occurs (so turn off auto update to make this easier!)

Guess I can't use mods then. Our apartment has free pc's but if you want to install anything it has to be to a different drive. It's basically a workstation with a locked-down "c-drive" but all personal installs have to be on a drive you own which makes it "d-drive" or what other letter. This has been a big problem with most software, everything want's to install to the users directory. It seems like almost all developers forget that people do install to other places than "C" even in linux. I know many people who have a persistant drive for sysyem but install othe programs to a secondary internal or external drive.
what's stopping you from installing things on other drives?
99% of the time you can just install things somewhere else by changing what path it prompts from the default
Oh, no one gave you the memo

If you're trying to launch the game without mods:
1.0 has renamed the game target, preventing SMM from being able to automatically uninstall mods for you.
1. To manually turn off mods, delete the FactoryGame/Mods
folder from your game install directory manually. Here's how to find the game install directory: https://docs.ficsit.app/satisfactory-modding/latest/faq.html#Files_GameInstall
- Even after you do this, SMM still won't work, and you will still get the "folder that does not exist" error message! You have to launch the game from Epic/Steam for now. Close SMM and don't use it again until we announce that mods are updated.
- If you have issues launching the game after this, also delete the FactoryGame/Plugins
folder, then verify your game files to restore it: https://docs.ficsit.app/satisfactory-modding/latest/faq.html#_how_do_i_verify_my_game_files
- If you're still having issues, post the next error you get!smm asks steam or epic where the game ks
and with both platforms you can install games wherever you like
the issue here is that the new path structure in 1.0 broke SMM. it'll stay that way until we actually have mods to install
