Fit check! Also, advice on buttons.
I'd like to apologise first for the poor lightning and overall capturing of the photo, I took it on the go. I played with the contrast a bit for button visibility purposes.
The jacket is a suit separate that I wish to use as a versatile dark navy blazer, mainly with gray trousers of various styles, though I wonder if a lighter gray than in the photos would be more desirable in your subjective opinions, too.
For said intent and purposes I'd like to change it's buttons to maybe under-threaded metallic gold buttons, basket-weave texture comes to mind.
I'd also like to hear, limitation of variety in the photos aside, about your thoughts on the fit, what you would change or so.
Thank you!

i think light gray vs dark gray pants is a negligible difference in the grand scheme of things if your goal is versatility
i'd probably change the buttons out for horn rather than gold/brass; the metal buttons are 'authentic' but at least to me call to very specific aesthetics (ivy, preppy)
the pictures are not ideal as you mention but i think the jacket might be a little short (straight on/side pics with your arms at the sides would help) and i'd maybe go for a less tapered pant
the actual components though are fine, if standard businesswear. if that's your intent fine, if not then it helps to know what you're shooting for
I've managed to dig through my gallery, found a video of said jacket in different wear, and took some video captures: don't mind the weird angles please.
I wouldn't say that I am shooting for the standard businesswear look, but I do enjoy understatement with the exception of accessories/shoes. Buttons I would also count as accessories and hence the whole* ordeal, but I understand also where you are coming from. Drape-y, soft, ivory trouser–the navy look–would go with said golden buttons, I think.
But then when even I imagine golden buttons with the outfits above, I can feel some sort of mismatch.
*Edited: Which defeats the versatility purpose I suppose, but c'mon, golden basket-weave textured buttons...
What shades of colour would you go for with the horn buttons?
i'd say shades of brown for the horn buttons imo
shoe choice i think will impact things, but that's a largely personal decision
part of this comes to eye test - what looks good to you and why. i would check #waywt as there's a decent number of people who do variations of this sort of fit, with TheVirt (the.virt) and Michael (Michael1) being the closest imo
Wholly appreciate the suggestions, I'm on it.
