Brand Spotlight: Issey Miyake (Homme Plissé, IM MEN, etc.) - Topic of the day 9/19/24
"Issey Miyake’s approach to manufacturing was always rooted in research and experimentation: to 'think outside the box' and not be bound by conventional frameworks. Miyake has fostered new ideas by challenging his staff to think beyond trends; and to look at the needs of society at that moment. Miyake created designs and techniques that will endure to future generations." -from isseymiyake.com; What are your thoughts on Issey Miyake and his eponymous brands? I slept on buying this for $1400 a couple months ago and then the seller took the listing down and stopped responding 😦
love the designs, I don't think I'll be participating though for 1 the price, but 2 at least with the pleats 100% poly seems to be intrinsic and personally I don't think I'd enjoy that aspect
however thats not a strongly set opinion and Im open to rebuke
IMO it's more justifiable when their intent of using polyester is tied to the construction vs as a means of mass production
on the other limiting themselves to poly is a bit frustrating bc I can't for the life of me get used to that texture for their pants
IM uses plenty of non-poly fabrics
Just the “classic” PP/HP pleated looks are nearly always poly
yeah the 100% poly is largely confined to IMHP and IMPP
you can't create the pleats without poly
but yes IM makes many more clothes that aren't Homme Plisse/Pleats Please
IM Men shirts kinda goated
I freaking love this coat
been on my wishlist for the season
but IM is always so expensive compared to smaller companies. This being like $1400 vs. Aidama coat for like $700 for example
Unfortunately I don’t fit a lot of 132 5 but I sincerely love looking at it
Extremely architectural
RIP the goat
