i don't know if you saw my reply in bazzite channel, but this is game issue if you have multiple input devices. Try disabling all other mic inputs in audio settings of your DE or with pavucontrol. while also deleting game.ini(backup it first) file inside squad prefix it should be somewhere inside you steam library folder <SteamLibrary-folder>/steamapps/compatdata/393380/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/SquadGame if that doesn't work try editing audioinputdevice manually inside game.ini file

hey any luck?? I'm using a USB mic. Bazzite sees it just fine, but zero audio comes through anywhere in the OS

can you open mentioned game.ini and check value for AudioInputDevice ? for me it is AudioInputDevice=PulseAudio Input which should be default input, try edit it that way

switch it to analog, almost never use digital same for output what is your input and output card?
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
I'm not sure what you're asking I use a usb-c dongle. that's a huge shame because it distorts at loud volume
iMightBeSpyduck
iMightBeSpyduck3mo ago
nothing stops you from lowering volume i used dongle at 25%
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
analogue did not fix it I dont understand the bar moves when I talk, so why the fuck isn't it VOIPing? could it be a firewall problem with voip?
iMightBeSpyduck
iMightBeSpyduck3mo ago
no that should be no problem, Squad also have sometimes have bug (maybe already fixed) where mic will not work until you disconnect and reconnect. But that is very rare
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
well I've reconnected, reinstalled squad, rebooted...
iMightBeSpyduck
iMightBeSpyduck3mo ago
but also even on windows there are some people who have problem with squad not picking their mic at all...
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
but wtf~! is the device supposed to be discoverable in steam voice? because it isn't.
iMightBeSpyduck
iMightBeSpyduck3mo ago
it should be
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
How would I rectify that issue? interestingly it detects my analog output, but not input. so I am noticing that my audio in general has a "pro mode" which everything can switch to

same option for mic
iMightBeSpyduck
iMightBeSpyduck3mo ago
did you set it to analog + mono input? or only analog?
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago

Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
only analoig. which is not detected by steam audio pro is, but the test does not work.
iMightBeSpyduck
iMightBeSpyduck3mo ago
set it to analog + mono input
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
mono input nukes all sound.
iMightBeSpyduck
iMightBeSpyduck3mo ago
the first option analog stereo output + mono input
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
Yes, what's what I had been testing but selecting "mono input" explicitly nukes audio. I think, like almost all of my linux problems, this is caused by steam itself
iMightBeSpyduck
iMightBeSpyduck3mo ago
what do you mean nuke audio

iMightBeSpyduck3mo ago
yes that what I wanted it Analog stereo output + Mono Input not only Mono Input
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
yeah both were tested
iMightBeSpyduck
iMightBeSpyduck3mo ago
also try again by deleting game.ini file before testing new configuration
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
I reinstalled the entire game and deleted relevant compatdata, is this not equivalent? I am very voncerned now that steam voice is now to blame.
iMightBeSpyduck
iMightBeSpyduck3mo ago
yes that the same does your mic work somewhere else? game, browser, discord?
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
everywhere else that has been tested.

could you try running squad with WINENOPULSE=1? @Vardayn itll force proton to use alsa for your stuff it can maybe work just put WINENOPULSE=1 %command% on the game launch options
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
hmmm
tulip
tulip3mo ago
it would be so funny if it just worked
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
nope
tulip
tulip3mo ago
but like can you take a little better screenshot of the helvum thing? your output looks very weird, you should have so many nodes
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
helvum?
tulip
tulip3mo ago
yeyeye
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
honestly
tulip
tulip3mo ago
that thing lemme link it
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
it's hard to get it all in one frame if you mean the audio flow thing
tulip
tulip3mo ago
this yeah like do you have an audio interface on ur system?
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
I'm not sure what you're askiung
tulip
tulip3mo ago
like this is the entirety of mine

tulip
tulip3mo ago
audio interface i mean by that thing that professionals related to audio use to get very very high quality audio
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
no
tulip
tulip3mo ago
so you system should have 1 billion of those nodes thats so weird like what.
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
Theres some random pro audio thing. which I have disabled
tulip
tulip3mo ago
oh ye the default should be "Analog Audio (whatever i forgot)" this the one without mono input but like, can you hear yourself on discord loopback?
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
it doesn't make a difvference
tulip
tulip3mo ago
hmmmmmm im sorry if this situation is frustrating for you its very weird its kinda hard to see someone with this kind of issue does your computer have multiple places to plug in your microphone? like, mine has 1 on the front, and 1 on the back
Vardayn
VardaynOP3mo ago
My headseat is a 2.4ghz dongle Can i purge all OS config? I want the nuclear option but not to reformat.
tulip
tulip3mo ago
i believe there isnt any option like that yet :(
