steamdeck stable updates slow

Whenever i need to do an update inside gamemode for steamdeck itself this is very slow (like 15 minutes before i can click restart) I have a descent pc running it and a 100mb/s average download speed Amd 5600g Amd 6950xt Crucial p3 nvme ssd 16 gb 4200mhz gskill memory Am i the only one with this issue or is this a known issue ?

should be noted the timer it shows is fake, it is just an ETA and it can finish way before 15 minutes has passed or it can get "stuck" at 1 second left meaning it just takes longer than what is average. This is because the system that updates the system, provides no progress bar or eta itself. so it is arbitrarily set to 15 minutes. tldr; ignore the timer and progress bar in the Steam UI if you want actual output then run the system updater from desktop mode

Thanks for that addition im not realy looking at the eta timer but rather my own clock to see the time it takes and i tought it was very long 15 minutes plus for a relatively small update i think it was only 35mb

everything on the steamUI for the updater is fake as we cannot change it. if it said 35mb there they are refering to their own steam client update which is unrelated to the system. we just hooked up the steamos updater to run the system update script for bazzite. so its nothing more than a glorified shortcut 😛
