It sounds like a CPU overheat throttle
Are you using a laptop to play
Yess
What does that mean
The CPU overheats, and the clock frequency drop to likely around 1GHz
So your game FPS trottles
And how do I fix that
Its most likely the reason
Clean your fans
The laptop is new
What CPU
Intel i7 12th gen
I don't even know how to clean the fans
Do I open the pc up or what
Laptop*
It's new am I even supposed to clean it when it's only 1 month old
You can use some monitor softward to track your CPU temperature first
To confirm if its a throttle
I have omen gaming hub, it came with the laptop
It's like 80-90 while playing
My country is hot so the cpu may be hotter than normal countries
Its normal for a laptop
And if it hits 90, there is a high chance it throttles
The temp cap is different per machine
On omen its usually green so idk
The temp
You can try use a software called throttle stop
Well wierd thing is today was the first time the fps dropped that bad
Btw whats your screen refresh rate
144 hz
And my gpu is rtx 3050
16 gb ram
Just limit the game to 144
Instead of let it run at high as possible
It will lower the load to both GPU and CPU a lot
And i believe if the temp is the problem it will solve it
When I do that it usually drops to 100 when I don't limit it usually only drops to 150 so should I limit it to 150 instead so it drops to a larger number
When I shoot and move the fps drops a little
That's what I am talking about
It dont make sense for lower FPS cap will let it drop more
Your best shot is to check if the CPU throttled
3060 laptop should be more than enough for the game
3050
Omen only shows current temp
Use another software
A lot things will record the highest temp
Okay
I'll try playing on limited
There is no profit for let the frame rate go above your screen refresh rate anyways
It can reduce the load by a lot
It just happened to me again and I checked the cpu temp right qfter and it wasn't even above 70
Umm
Is it GPU then
If its a 3050 it should be on a high load
Y'all can u pls help me in my forum
Pretty pls??
what brand of laptop is it? could be a ventilation issue
well if the temperature is okay why would it be a ventilation issue
oh I'm blind :130_wwx_sob:
didn't read the part where he said it didn't go above 70
?
If your CPU is not overheated its probably your GPU
Same temp as cpu
Even less sometimes
If both of them not overheated, the reason is pretty hard to tell
Like if a background process suddenly consumes a lot resources for a few second may cause it
When it drops it sais on top right corner low client fps
Yea, its just a warning for low FPS
I have nothing going on in the background
It also occurred a couple of times today not only 1 time, and when I open valorant settings while the fps is dropped it opens smoothly and it doesn't lag so I don't think it's a problem on my laptop
All happened in valorant
It is possible to be a bug
Pretty hard to tell the reason if both of GPU and CPU not overheated
It's super wierd
Yea
A normal drop would just drop to 90 if I open a couple of stuff at the same time but it litteraly drops to 30 and sometimes even hits 10 fps
Its impossible to drop to 10FPS even CPU throttled
On one of them I pressed windows Burton to go to settings and as soon as I pressed it the fps returned to normal so I think it's a problem with valorant
Waittttt
It happened to me after the update only, I didn't have this problem before
Could it be a bug that came with the update
@あまねちゃん
Is there a riot support or someone I can ask
Yea, if its a bug contacting official support will be your best shot to solve it
Where do I ask
Official site I think
Also I think there is a player support button in game
I'll ask them in the morning I feel tired from school
hey so ru sure it's not your pcs power saving system
It could also be due to power management settings however. Press start, open the Control Panel, then click Power Options. Click "Change Plan Settings" next to the power plan you are using, then click "change advanced power settings". This will open a new window. Open "Processor Power Management" and then "Minimum Processor State". Change this setting to 100%. This should make your CPU run at its base speed.
don't keep it at 100%
just check k
if you get your fps issues
