Trench coat recommendations

budget < 1000CAD Ideally all natural fibres, but viscose is OK Linen would be ideal as I'd like this to work for spring/fall and I run very hot So far I'm looking at vintage Burberry but looking for other options as well! I see a lot of recommendations for SEH Kelly, but theirs is full polyamide.

vintage London Fog, vintage Aquascutum, vintage the Scotch House (they were made by Burberrys, so only rebadged Burberrys coats) cotton trench coats work in warmer weather absolutely fine, too! also depends what you are looking for; are you just looking for a long coat and like the look of trench coats or do you also need it in ‚bad‘ weather seh kelly uses aramid fiber because of its weatherproofing qualities most trench coats aren‘t heavily lined so even if you run hot, it shouldn’t generally be an issue linen trench coats seem a lot more common in womenswear but a lot of trench coats can easily be worn unisex

Yea I'm just looking for a long coat and I like the look of trench coats. Yes cotton is good too as long as its not wool lined! i live in the PNW so we don't really get bad weather, but I have a wool balmacaan (from seh kelly actually) for colder weather. Its usually not cold here so I rarely get to wear it though. thanks for the recs! and I'll look at womens sections for linen ones

perhaps not really fitting for what you’re looking for; but barbour used to make a really dope looking trench coat in the 90s!

I too was initially reluctant to get the SEH Kelly because of the synthetic fibres. However, it is worth noting that most natural fibre trench coats are water-resistant whilst SEH Kelly's would be properly waterproof. I ended up getting it and am happy with the purchase, after having the same reservations you do. Just my two cents.

yea, but I am OK with water resistant, and trying to avoid buying new plastic if I can

Fair enough I would suggest looking for vintage Burberry trenches on eBay or poshmark, especially if they have the Burberry's tag (as opposed to BURBERRY).
