Surface Go monitor sleep
I have a Surface Go 2 running Win 11 Pro that I’m trying to get Hass agent/home assistant to control the screen of. I want to be able to turn the screen off but not put the Surface to sleep so that you can tap the screen and it wakes up again. I tried using the monitorsleep control but it requires you to press the power button to turn it on again and the monitorwake does not wake it up. Is what I’m looking to do possible?

ohhh
you've touched upon a very nice topic
and it's called
why modern sleep/standby aka why S0ix sleep is the bane of sane people😄 to keep it short, that's a "new" invention which is supposed to give m$ connectivity while "preserving" battery yes, windows is able to wake up and do stuff while the device "sleeps" but getting to solution there is none really not with the "monitor sleep" command I won't bore you with the m$ docs/details but all calls to commands turning of screen/physically pressing the button that locks the screen will invoke S0ix sleep on most modern mobile devices like laptops or tablets @Alcarnage what is the current version of HASS.Agent that you're running I have an alpha version of solution custom build for my tablet that acts as a dashboard, it has an additional "monitorsleeppowerplan" command which basically turns the screen off by manipulating the powerplan and having approperiate wakelock held with the system still testing it for myself but at some point I'll put it in the main branch I can do a build for you to test - would be beneficial for me too, I'll have additional feedback 😄 and I just did a wall of text ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I’m running what ever was current when I posted this. I’m just setting up the device and controlling the screen was the first thing I was wanting to do. Happy to test a build as this isn’t “production” yet.
I'll take 2.1.0, merge the test branch and ping you here 🙂
target is tomorrow
but I'll ping you 😄
Sounds good!
Did you manage in solving your surface problem? I have exactly the same problem so curious on how you solved it if any...
yesn't
I still have the build on my todo list
although some life stuff got into the way
I'll try this weekend
that took a while
@Alcarnage @Begie if you'd like, please try this test version https://github.com/amadeo-alex/HASS.Agent/releases/tag/2.1.1-beta2-monitorsleep
