What is the use of rms values? Why was it invented? Why not normal average values?

It reflects real world properties. In case of gases. It links microscopic properties (velocity of gas molecules) to macroscopic values (temp) Read zumdahl. Given in detail there! Avg and most probable are stastistical ideas.

Rms value of ac circuit is its dc equivalent as well so it has practical uses
