TV says "Invalid Format" in GameMode

Hello guys! I'm using Bazzite on my Ally Z1E and when I try to connect it to my TV (through the JSAUX HB0801S dock), I'm getting the "Invalid format" message on my TV (LG B1)... not sure what to do as both screens are black. When I connect it in Desktop mode, it works OK after I turn on "presentation mode" and connect it afterwards, then it somehow shows up and I can use it... but I need to use it in Game Mode to... well... play games. To clarify a bit more: It works in Desktop mode (KDE) in 4K with VRR (FreeSync Premium), and also does work without issues in Windows in 4K and VRR (FreeSync Premium). When I tried connecting Steam Deck to the TV through the same dock, there was no issue and everything has shown up on the TV. So the issue has to lie somewhere else. Any help what to do? Thanks!

enable external display safe mode in settings then connect the ally to the dock/tv essentially your external screen settings are incompatible with the tv external display safe mode removes all your external display settings for gamemode and just uses whatever the tv says it wants

Tried that, still the same “Invalid format” 😓 even tried restarting. When the device is booting, it displays the bazzite booting logo, but once gamescope loads, it’s blank screen and just says “Invalid format”. I guess there is some way to set a fixed resolution / display mode by some configuration file for Gamescope, but I have no idea where and how to set it. If that’s not the case, then I’m out of ideas.

dont know where that would be myself, the invalid format usually means a resolution incompatible with the display is being used

but it definitely has to be a software issue, as when I tried to connect SD OLED in Gamescope, it worked. Probably when the Ally is negotiating resolution with the TV some weird stuff happens and it doesn’t set it properly. I would need to somehow set it to 1080p fixed and go from there.

if its already registered it as a display you can edit the resolution and refresh rate manually in ~/.config/gamescope/modes.cfg. it must be a valid monitor mode to take effect though, so its not like this is a global custom resolution override.
