High-waisted trousers for a short guy
Looking for trousers of a classic style. I am 5'4 with little to no prospects of growing any taller. I am in-between a 28-30 waist but if the trousers have side adjusters then that should be OK. Suspender buttons would be nice but not necessary as I can always get them sewed on. I am in the UK if it helps.
I did try a pair from Revival Vintage; they were perfect everywhere else apart from the length, a good 6 inches too long.
I also have had a look at bespoke trousers from AskOkey but I don't know if I can justify spending that much unless it's the absolute last straw.

Budget, examples pls as classic style is a little vague
Are you worried about the length of the inseam? If so given your measurements you're going to have to resort to getting your pants hemmed
I have a 27.5" inseam. I find I have to hem almost all the pants I buy. Fortunately getting them hemmed is relatively inexpensive
Could try looking at the various brands on Olderbest, I imagine they would have that sort of thing https://www.olderbest.com/collections/pants-trousers

Also maybe British army officers trousers on eBay?
Realistically probably no more than Ā£500. But shoot anything at me. As for examples, the best I can provide is the trousers they have at Revival Vintage: (which I mentioned before were too long for me, but they're a good base-point) https://revivalvintage.co.uk/collections/vintage-trousers

Mens Vintage Style Trousers
Genuine vintage thirties, forties, and fifties trousers are increasingly difficult to source. To cater for all sizes we stock authentic-looking mid-century style trousers, mostly from our own Revival brand. They have all the authentic features of the original pants such as turnup hems, high waistlines, and fishtail or
More so worried about the out seam and the actual length of the trousers; the ones I tried recently were at the point where I'd be stepping on the ends with my shoes, so obviously far too long. I think my inseam is around the same as yours.
Yeah that's still inseam related since higher rise trousers sit at a different point on your body but generally the inseam is the same length. I think you're going to want to pick the trousers you like most and then get them hemmed. Most trousers made in the style you're looking for actually come with an unfinished hem and are intended to get hemmed after you purchase them
Yeah what kstocks said, why spend up to 500 when you can get these Ā£70 trousers and get them hemmed for like 20 quid
Shouldn't have any effect on the proportions or anything unless they are really tapered
This was actually my thinking earlier, but my dad weighed in and said it would probably screw up the proportions and that I'd be better off getting a pair custom-made at the price it would take to sort them out. I should point out that the pair I bought haven't been returned yet but probably will over the weekend. I know nothing about tapering but perhaps I should do a bit of research for myself tonight.
Oh I think they'd be absolutely fine tbh looking at the leg width on the webpage. If you took about 4 or 5 inches off the bottoms, the width doesn't look like it would be any greater at that point. I've definitely hemmed a similar amount off trousers like that and they've come out fine
Lemme see if I can find an example
Ya these ones I took from like a 32" inseam to my usual which is ~28" (and that's just me with a needle and thread haha, a proper alterations tailor could do a much better job)
Yeah I've taken 5+ inches off the leg of pants that had an unfinished hem and it looks fine
So we're holding off on returning them at the moment until we can get it (and myself) properly measured. His main concern was the length of the crotch and he thought it might end up looking like parachute pants if we hemmed.. so we'll see I suppose!
That's just the high rise. Make sure you're wearing them on your natural waist (higher than you're used to) but it sounds completely fine
You have a lot of room before a high rise + hem starts making the proportions look off tbh
I have some bonkers high rise pants that I wear at various heights on my body and they donāt come off as drop crotch unless Iām really trying
Finally actually got round to taking them to a tailors today. Hoping it looks fine once it's done š
Update: tailor did a fine job but took the turnups off despite my requesting them not to š
So I suppose that's another thing now
Gran managed to fix it herself, didn't know she could sew. Thanks for all the help on this, trousers look good now.
