Wayland is crashing and icons are disappearing

How can I go about troubleshooting this issue? It just started today. Never seen this before.

Just to flesh this out a bit more... I now see that whenever this happens, all open programs crash, and I am reset back to a fresh desktop.

nvidia image? also had someone else with the icons moving on hover issue and they had to clear out all their configs and cache from their homedir which is very destructive so do this only if you really want to. no idea what causes it specifically but its only happened on nvidia so far (once) and we could not reproduce it ourselves. DO THE BELOW COMMANDS IF YOU ARE OK WITH LOSING SESSION CONFIGS, APPLICATION CONFIGS AND POTENTIAL APPLICATION DATA

rm -rf ~/.cache/*
rm ~/.config/*

rm -rf ~/.cache/*
rm ~/.config/*

once run, restart the pc

less destructive thing you also can try is

mv ~/.config/kwinrc ~/.config/kwinrc.bak
mv ~/.config/kwinoutputconfig.json ~/.config/kwinoutputconfig.json.bak

mv ~/.config/kwinrc ~/.config/kwinrc.bak
mv ~/.config/kwinoutputconfig.json ~/.config/kwinoutputconfig.json.bak
