Game will not launch, yet uses resources
It doesnt matter what proton i use. It either does whats in the video, or it just immediately fails.
I used to be able to play this on this pc(this is nvidia), but havent in a while as I have been playing it in my living room(amd). everything is up to date.

PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
or launch steam w/ terminal and watch it
and have you checked ProtonDB?game is gold
and as i said i play on 2 other devices
both linux
just different gpu
am i supposed to use wayland? i thought nvidia was still x11
you can use either
doesn't matter here
oh
not an error
then idk what it means
oh
hold on let me clear the log and try again
even if you used wayland, all proton games run in xwayland
so, it's still X11
post the whole log
ah gotcha
one thing I always try is to delete the prefix folder entirely in case something there throws off the loading
uh screenshots are backwards
so second is the start
please copy and paste
oh
duh
why didnt i think of that
doesn't look like the game even started
do what @termdisc said and delete your compatdata for this title
okay
it def started something
but its still not doing anything
new log
the other thing to do: reboot
i didnt reboot but i did restart steam
full reboot?
yep
/var/mnt/steam/steamapps/compatdata/311210/
what file system is this drive?uh oh
time for the funny
btrfs
give us...
cat /etc/fstab | fpaste
would've been easier if it was the funny
yea i alr sufferd with ntfs on as a steam drive for linux
https://paste.centos.org/view/29cd3b88
still the funny @termdisc
This line is the problem
exec,noatime,nofail,users
users turns exec off
flip like so
noatime,nofail,users,exec
i wonder how that got there
if you're using KDE, the partition manager in it sucks
so, not your fault
yes kde
fstab
does fstab things essentially
it f-stabs you in the backfix that little booboo
restart
delete compatdata
and try again
yea cuz i didnt even know what i was looking at so i didnt think oh ill add user
mine even has
noatime
twice! /dev/sda1 /mnt/second btrfs noatime,lazytime,commit=120,discard=async,compress-force=zstd:1,space_cache=v2,discard=async,ssd,noatime 0 0
oh
i gotta manually edit my fstab
noatime
š«
and I mean it
I would remove it, but I'm afraid of it breaking hahah
hey so i noticed this last time i restarted but my pc is taking a while to restart
it goes up to 2min 30s/5min i believe
let it ride
yea it does normal stuff after
but the problem is the minutes of waiting to restart
take the time to reflect on having an Nvidia card while using Linux
i mean
u gonna pay for my upgrade?
id really appreciate that š
2m30s to think about your next card being AMD
not a bad deal
i meab amd was the last gpu i paid for
but its in my living room rn where ive been playing this game just fine
anyways the issue i had made this help thread for is fixed
game booted so thank you
