Self hosted modded server PC specs
I don't have any experience with hosting my own server so I am wondering if someone here with experience could tell me if I could use my old computer to host a modded server forge based on versions 1.12.2 (it might be 1.20.1, I've read newer versions are more demanding apparently?), there would be around 60 mods, half of them are mostly QoL mods, 6-7 of them are bigger mods like Aether, Twilight Forest, Biomes'O'Plenty etc. and the rest are mostly decorations/furniture mods. Server would only have 2-4 people on MAX.
PC specs:
CPU - Intel i7 7700k 4.2GHz
RAM - DDR4 16GB 3200MHz
256GB SSD (I'm not exactly sure which one I put in there at this time but it is an SSD and at least 256GB)
Is there any more information about the PC needed?
I am wondering if the server would run smoothly or would it be very laggy? (I'm aware that it could also depend on if players are not in the same area/dimension and that it can depend on the number of entities loaded too)
Thank you for your time!

Not sure.
That CPU has a very poor singlethread (which is what matters for minecraft servers).
Also you might be better off using shared hosting (where you pay for hardware and you get login details for a web panel). You'd have better perf and you don't have to pay for electricity like you would for home hosting etc
Alrighty, yeah I might have to go with a host then, just wanted to see if I could put my old pc to some use because the hosts can be quite expensive compared to electricity which isn't really much. Thanks for the response!

I saw quite a lot of recommendations for ServCity already so I'll most likely go for them. Thanks for your time and am closing the post!
no problem!
