TDP and Fan curve on GPD Win Mini 2024
Installed Bazzite on my gpd win mini 2024 this morning. Such a night and day difference, but running into two issues:
- The fan keeps going at 5500 rpm, tried Fantastic, which gives bogus readings and Power control which doesnt seem to affect anything.
- TDP settings seem borked. Testing Blasphemous 2 at 4 watts gives a total power draw of 18w, which seems like a lot.
Any fixes for these that come to mind? Thank you!

About 2 that's a bit high you're right
Should be around 16w
Unfortunately the only way to limit tdp that much is to do both fps and resolution limiting and use a light game
That should get you down to 10w
Otherwise yeah it can jump up
About 1 currently there is only the powercontrol decky plugin that can do fan curves
But you will lose the steam tdp slider
We will be looking at software fan curves very soon
Pardon me for the hijack, but just wanted to say Hi! Good to see another Win Mini 2024 user here. It's such a well performing device that doesn't suffer from all the issues that the Deck and Ally faces, yet it's so very underrated. Plus, keyboard!! So damn handy, and actually usable, unlike many the slide-out versions.
@antheas Ah, this is super helpful, thank you! If I use power control is there anyway to limit tdp?
I know, right? Love the thing with only complaints being the fan. But man.. that keyboard is a game changer
Did you run into any of these issues @d3Xt3r ?
It has its own tdp controls
Got it! So forget about the tdp slider in SteamOS, full throttle on the power controls for the time being
Anyway to make them responsive though?
Running Blasphemous as a test case, its sitting at 45 for both the cpu and gpu, so it shohldnt be hitting 5500 rpm
I haven't actually checked the fan RPM but it's less louder than Windows. In saying that, my only complaint is the whinyness - but I wear headphones anyways so it's mostly not an issue. Haven't checked the TDP numbers either, but all the games I threw at it run pretty well and it didn't seem any hotter than Windows. So overall I'm a happy camper.
Sounds good! The fan doesnt bother me, persoanlly, but folks in the house are less amused by it. Ill toy around some more and see if I can get it fixed.
The fan curve making the StemOs slider not work is a good hint for the tdp concerns
If you install power controls our tdp management will be disabled
And we will consider yoursetup unsupported while you have it installed
If fan curves mean that much to you you can use it
