No sound
Hello, I've looked everywhere but I can't find how to get sound on bazzite. I installed it yesterday, I didn't touch anything but no sound comes out. I've tried every possible audio output, doing a test each time, but nothing works.

hardware?
heu
what do you mean
what is your hardware
a pc? a laptop? steamdeck? other handheld?
a pc
spec?
R5 5600/2080ti/32gb RAM
My speaker is M-AUDIO BX3 BT
is a bluetooth?
refer to my description, then yes
which de are you using kde/gnome?
But I use it with AUX
from what I see, I use this
ok so gnome
try installing pavucontrol
from "software"
done
open it and go to output device
whats shown in there
My mic (bc we can plug a headset in it), my screen and this
your mic is shown in output device?
Like I said yes, Its Rode NT and we can plug a headset in it
but we dont care
I dont use it like a headset, just microphone
can you show the full pavucontrol windows
which one is the default device there?
like that ?
hmm, any of that device doesnt produce sound?
nop
try opening the pavucontrol again and go to configuration
try changing your output profile
and the correct device seems to be either line out or headphones
depending on which port you use
If you want to try all device, like I said before I have already all try it and it dont work
Or I dont understand
did you go here?
yes
(where dark mode lol)
try changing your hdmi to off and the rode-nt to input only
wich one ? First ?
ah analog stereo input
mb
3rd from bottom
that works too
ok done
try playing sound
its my screen who have sound, not my speaker
you got it wrong
hdmi is off
the hd audio controller should be the default
the duplex i think
hmmm
like that ?
yeah try again
no sound
you are connecting it using 3.5mm jack right?
to which port
yes, to the main jack from my motherboard
hmm try playing some sound in the background
and open the output device tab in pavucontrol
which device are playing the sound?
this one
try changing the port
Tried all port
and still not working
port = profile for me
try disconnecting other device but your speaker
does that work?
nop
you sure the speaker works?
Yeah, work in windows and in bt.
But sorry I gtg, I come back in 1-2h
yeah, im not sure what to do either 3.5mm should be basically plug n play, the problem usually are wrong default device
if the aux cable is connected to the rode mic then make sure the rode mic supports a duplex profile, otherwise it will only use the mic for input (or you know, a microphone)
high chance the headset port on the rode mic isnt supported in linux if a duplex profile is not available for it, and you will have to plug the aux cable into the port on the computer.
ok im here
nah like I said before, my mic is just a mic, not a headset
I plug my speaker directly in my motherboard in jack 3.5mm
no idea why it doesnt work then π€
idk why too, thats why im here :MercySweat:
And I have already check, no drivers available
I have leave windows bc I was fed up with microsoft's incessant bugs, and now I can't even get sound.π
open terminal and check in
alsamixer
and see if there is a hidden channel for the audio that for some reason is set to 0?
last thing i can think of
press f6 to change the sound cardas an example here is my audio output, the one at 81 is the one controlled by the volume knob while the one at 100 is the actual volume
F6 and select the starship/mattise card just to be sure
hmm
only this is showed, and hd audio generic wont work
hd audio might be the one, everything shown looks fine though but there is more to the right not shown
ah yes
still not working
ok then i am sadly out of ideas on my end
:dark:
does the aux works with your phone?
just sanity checking
I know they work all the same, I've been using them for 2 years and nothing's wrong, yesterday on windows they worked perfectly, I see no reason why they shouldn't work today.
yeah i know but can you check?
I have a iPhone
you have any other device that accept 3.5mm?
sadly not
you have other speaker or headset?
I'll take my headset, plug it directly into the motherboard, and see if it works.
and no surprise, still not working
what is your motherboard model?
Now I just enable night light and the system completely freeze, forced to reboot
Im gonna reuse windows at this point lol
Heu
Wait
i think there is something wrong with plasma, i have similar problem
oh wait forgot your on gnome
Msi b550m pro vdh wifi
btw did you ever tried front panel, or you do not have it?
I just restarted and the system is still frozen, I canβt do anything anymore
β¦
is it frozen on the login screen?
Nah after
Wait
Im on windows rn and my speaker works perfectly
Soooo
does ctrl + alt + f1/2/3/4 work?
:Hmm:
Yes
btw i have almost similar mobo model (mine doesnt have wifi) and my front jack work just fine
you get into terminal?
NO
sorry
no
restarted the session
re login
and working
so no more freeze?
for the moment no
this?
wait
it working
the front panel work but the back doesnt?
yes
no driver available on the website manifacture
jack shouldnt need one anyway
i just tried and both plugging in my earphone to front panel and motherboard works fine
B550M PRO-VDH
same sound card as your
you plugged to the green port right?
just in case
If it works on my Windows, it's because I've plugged it in properly, I'm not that stupid... :s
who knows if windows have some software fuckery to make other ports work
btw i just noticed something
it said headphones (plugged in), but it should be line out (plugged in)
do other device uses jack?
if you use the front panel what does it say
I have plug in my Headset and not my speaker in front pannel, and it work
I guess If I plus my speaker in front pannel it work too
But the problem is not here, the problem is the back pannel is not working
yeah i know
try plugging it to the back
then see what is the dropdown of this thing
not that page
ah this menu
yes
wait
dont touch anything
the first image if you open the dropdown on the Headphones (plugged in) what does other option says
if you changed it to line out does the sound work?
btw is the front panel one actually have something plugged in currently?
my headphone
My speaker is still plug in in the back pannel
ok, so using line out the speaker works or not?
nop
so
headset -> front panel = work
headset -> motherboard = doesnt work
speaker -> front panel = work
speaker -> motherboard = doesnt work
speaker -> front panel = workI guess its working if the headset work
can you try?
sure
work
so the port is having problem
nop
bazzite have a problem with my port
the port work perfectly
ofc on windows
btw your original setup use the front panel or not?
I have never used my front pannel
until now
hmm
I think im gonna just desinstall bazzite and try catchy os (cc piwi)
Bad luck it doesn't work with me, at least I tried.
you can live boot other distro to check
if it does work there though please let us know so we can try figure out why
If its working on catchy os ?
yep
alright
Well
also check with a live distro if possible (one that lets you test run it before install from the usb)
thank you very very very much asen for your help and your patience, I never forget that, Hika I will notice you if its its work or not, now Im gonna eat and see after

this is a hardware issue though but still funny
@HikariKnight @asen23 hello
Guess what
Hm?
Still not working π
Maybe a hardware issue
no other distro that could work? it does work in windows tho
yeahh :c
I don't know why it's causing this bloody problem, but I'm pretty sure it's something to do with the driver.
