Brand Spotlight: Sassafras - Topic of the day 8/28/24
Founded in Kyoto, Japan, Sassafras makes clothing for the gardener in all of us. Designer Takashi Takagi is an avid gardener himself, and he takes cues from workwear and military clothing to craft ultra-functional designs that work in any environment.

Cool brand, mysterious with their kind of non-existent online presence. Do they even have a website?
Was able to handle some stuff in person at tempest works and it all looked great. Unfortunately with that store being gone I'm not sure if there are any retailers left in the EU. There is also no second-hand market to speak of nor is proxying a very good option here. So I will keep admiring it from afar for now
Really cool brand but I haven't found the piece for me yet, looking forward to seeing what people say in this thread
I see a bunch of it on the Japanese auction sites, looks super nice, and I appreciate the super specific niche they've gone for. Not seen anything that's made me run out and grab it quite yet, but keeping an eye open.
Tempest works is done?? 🥲
Even here in japan, the only interaction I've had with this brand is a couple times seeing somebody wearing something cool, and then when asking about it learning that it is Sassafras.
The piece is definitely do a good job of being Basics that still sort of stand out. I've never worn them so I can't speak to the quality or comfort. But they seem quite interesting.
I just have this shirt that I got from a user here. It reminds me of a garden jacket my grandmother wore in the 70’s. Same color and design.
