Only you can answer that really, but there are a lot of lightly used quality shoes on eBay for less.
Used Grant Stones or...?
There's very few of those at my size. Aldens are the ones I've been looking at for a while, but size + price + style is difficult to find.
Grant Stones are good shoes. If you want a pair, then you have to decide if waiting for a used pair for less to come up is worth the price difference. If you're open to other brands, you'll have a lot more options (but still may have to wait for one you like).
You will more than likely pay a lot in shipping taxes and duties
At least an extra $100 CAD in tax + duty is my guess, plus whatever shipping is
It may be worthwhile considering a shoe made in EU and shipped from EU at a similar price point, since duties should not be charged (or made in UK and shipped from UK, or made in USA and shipped from USA)
What would you recommend?
Not really my style so others may have better recommendations
There are a bunch of gyw shoes made and shipped from Portugal so you could look into those brands
EBay from Canadian sellers is also a good option if you know your size and are ok with buying used
Pretty sure I'll be charged heavy duties on anything NOT made in a CUSMA country. So made in the USA may be good
If it’s made in EU and shipped from EU they will not charge duties
Now that I read more about CETA apparently there is some nuance about the origin of the textiles used in manufacturing
Unclear how this is handled on a case by case basis
