Steam (Desktop Mode) Doesn't remember password
Apologies, I feel this may be a duplicate but I can't find the question anymore.
Steam in Desktop mode is not remembering my login. Whether it be a reboot or just closing steam and restarting - I have to login every time.

Turns out, I'm just a doofus. After my most recent reinstall, I didn't set up game mode since I knew it wouldn't work (and I was booting directly to desktop). Apparently bazzite-steam likely has some dependency on game-mode and once I set it up and logged in, it fixed my issue. steam remembers who I am now.

Do you have screenshot ?
Is it plasma log in screen or ?
@soost
No, it's steam desktop app
Oh
Apologies misread
You see this every time you go to desktop ?
yeah, or even just close steam
(so that it's not running in background)
Never encountered something like that hm. Did you try any help with chat gpt ?
Usually I check everything with chat gpt, helped out with a lot of issues so far. Coz I am still pretty new with Linux
I think there is should be the way to check the output of logs from steam in Terminal
Or even set auto log in through steam somehow
Hah. Funny enough, when i try to start steam from command line to see the output, it logs me in properly...
so the application in the launcher seems to be running
/usr/bin/bazzite-steam
running that from command line reproduces the issue. Running /usr/bin/steam
works normallysounds like steam is crashing
whats your hardware?
not sure about that. seems to be closing cleanly. i'm not sure what
bazzite-steam
does on top of steam
but it seems like something in there is mucking upif steam crash it will logs you out
maybe when you open it
But steam works fine. bazzite-steam doesn't
^
OneXPlayer X1 i
intel based X1
that uses arc igpu right?
that's right
is there any error when you run bazzite-steam
ERROR: ld.so: object '/usr/lib/extest/libextest.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded (wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32): ignored.
that is probably normal
can you send the whole logs?
not letting me upload
https://paste.centos.org/
try creating there
https://paste.centos.org/view/0a3c4e70
this site doesn't work for me in chrome. odd
is that the whole log? doesnt see anything weird
does this happen in gamemode?
my game mode is a bit broken due to probably unrelated compatibility issues with my hardware - let me see
by the way, is this normal?
